We have opted to number the books in the series in sequential reading order rather than use the fractional system.

Yes, you are right and I was wrong. Thank you for the correction.

The fractional system is in numerical order. It just tells us which are not full novels. Also, J.D. Robb herself doesn't number the shorts. So why do it incorrectly when it's so easy to fix it to be correct? Goodreads also has the shorts fractioned.
It was only recently that the J. D. Robb site even included the novellas in her list. They were listed separately and there was so much confusion related to reading order.
The purpose of this list is to provide members with the correct reading order for the series, which is even more confusing when changes are made to how the novellas are bundled etc. That's why we made the decision to list the books in this order.
If knowing the fractional numbering system is important to you, I can add them parenthetically. They were included with the book links to the page discussion but were deleted when the previous moderator left Goodreads and opted to delete all of her threads. I haven't had the opportunity to restore them.
There is a difference between numerical and sequential ordering. As I stated in my first response, we have chosen sequential ordering for clarity.

You're absolutely right! I've corrected both lists.

My apologies! I'm going to re-verify the list as the previous moderator created the list originally. Thanks for letting us know.

Thanks, Ren. The Rita Award is added. We normally link to the individual book in the anthology and Taken in Death isn't in the database yet.
Please fix this most obviously glaring error. Thanks.
