Although I didn't quite expect to enjoy it in the beginning, with it being based off of true matters, it ended up being one of the most interesting books I have ever read. I say this because I actually learned something about our world through this book
Summary: In a small town in Nepal, a young woman named Lakshmi lives her everyday life. She farms and keeps up with daily house chores until one day, he step-father sells her to continue his gambling addiction. After being sold, she is taken to a brothel in a huge city in India. While in there, she becomes hardened and only sees the worst in people, but also finds love and compassion in the few friends she makes.
