I've just started reading 'The Garden of Evening Mists' by Tan Twang En. It has very good ratings and seems interesting and well-written, so I nominate it. It will especially appeal to anyone interested in Asian cultural and political history, as the setting is Malaya (now Malaysia) and a main character is Japanese.
I just finished reading "A Man Called Ove" by Fredrik Backman and loved it. I'd like to read his next release, "My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry." https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
Lots of interesting choices here; I'd like to add Kamila Shamsie's A God in Every Stone, about British-Indian relations in the early part of the twentieth century (includes archaeology, WWI, and Indian independence movements.)
