Gritting my teeth a little bit now, ha. Because some of you seem to just have 'rock star' or 'WWF' author-names (like 'Sting' or 'Mako'). Others are missing private/external author-sites I want to add for you, like 'jonspoelstra.com'. That means I will have to go find an Amazon page or something for your entries.
Big Sigh.

Or you can put what is provided. Since I sell on Kobo, Apple, Google Play, B&N and so on, I'd hate to have just Amazon listed.

I believe you have what you need from me, but just ask and we can go back and edit our original posts with whatever you need.

Your specific data is fine, I'm just looking for consistency among all the entries for all the authors. There's a certain format the 'directory page' eventually assumes, which makes for easy scrolling/clicking.

Unfortunately (in the case of authors with just a Goodreads page and no other site) I have to make a Hobson's Choice. No room to add all the book outlets for each author. An author can provide me with a Facebook page--or any other site of their choosing-- but I really need just two links.

Next tip: every author here should examine this section of the bookshelf:

https://www.goodreads.com/group/books...

...and verify that all the titles they've written are found *on this shelf* and no other

This is for when a reader wants to browse among your titles from within the group; this is where we can select your books for group features; where we can add custom tags, etc

Search on your name and let me know if your books are
either
(1) tagged-to-another-shelf
(2) missing titles
or
(3)not-appearing-at-all

Carmen Amato (authorcarmenamato) Thanks Feliks, I'm a thriller and mystery author best known for the Emilia Cruz police procedural series set in Acapulco. In fact, the film rights have just been sold! Here is the press release:

"Screenwriter and director Emily Skopov is pleased to announce the acquisition of film and television rights to the Detective Emilia Cruz series by mystery author Carmen Amato. The series, which includes the novels CLIFF DIVER, HAT DANCE, and DIABLO NIGHTS, as well as a collection of short stories, features Emilia Cruz as the first and only female police detective in Acapulco. Physically tough yet emotionally vulnerable, Cruz must be her own moral compass as police investigations pit her against Mexico's drug cartel violence, government corruption, and gender bias against a woman in a traditionally male occupation."

Good. I'll add you presently.

Some authors in my other groups reported increased interest in their books after readers saw them re-presented this way.

In addition to the 'authors directory' there'll be a 'titles directory' where your *very* latest book is displayed with a link. This is for those readers who (I figure) want to quickly zip through a list of recent-published books to find a new title.

That's not particularly my style of reading, but I gotta believe that's the way a lot of readers behave these days. So...

Feliks (dzerzhinsky) | 185 comments Mod
Ellis, Gary, Carmen, Frank, Diana, Alan, Jean--all added to the 'directory' on our group front-page

But, I'm dissatisfied. I don't like the way that page looks, and I don't like how its giving incomplete and even crude info.

I think its time we moved to the next phase of Feliks-ization.

Carmen Amato, even without news of that movie deal--I've seen your name on Goodreads. You're a well-known authoress. I'd want to trumpet your good news to the readers in this group. Movie sales deserve big announcements. We are dropping the ball big-time.

Gary Corby--you just had a book release--!! If timing had been right, I would've made fanfare about this to our group members too.

So I'm fuming because I can't get my usual machinations together as quickly here as I am used to doing in my other groups. New book releases etc are always moved up to the top of the directories. Alerts are sent out. I'm nowhere yet ready to do this.

Right now, I have to poll all you authors now just to see what your latest releases are. Gotta collect ALL that data for the 'titles' thread. I've seen in the past how this alone can take two weeks at least.

Sigh...

For Gary and Carmen I've done what I could on short-notice. Bumped them to top of the measly 'authors directory' page.

Will also make them part of the 'books just out' area of the group.

Charmed, I'm sure! Thanks for the words of support.

Now, I must inform you that authors of any kind who are our group members, are eligible for the same privileges that mystery authors are afforded (within these precincts).

After all, you might someday write a mystery, even though you haven't yet so far.

So, your name will be added in with the others!

Susan Joy Clark | 8 comments Hello. I'm new. I'm a mystery author also. I can understand some others here who said they were not strictly mystery writers. I have one other (currently out of print) book in another category. My current mystery novel evolved out of a short story that was initially not a mystery. A friend suggested I write a mystery, and I'm glad he did. Since then, I have been a more avid mystery reader as well.

Alan wrote: "I'm a mystery author. I hope something comes of this site. Feliks, thanks for your efforts."

I think I've got everyone now.

Yes, authors *do* report increased traffic and sales thanks to these small techniques.

But I do it because I think its good for the genre. The best purpose of a group like this is to keep the genre thriving. Anything really, to fight the wave of romance reading and BDSM insanity.

p.s. Authors, I can't always run down every single title on my own. Its in your best interest to see all your books get added to our shelves. Each book in a group bookshelf has a 'tag' or 'pitch'. Its a way to help connect with readers. Take advantage of it!

Aha. You mean our group bookshelf .

Yes. The purpose of the group shelves is to represent titles we talk about in discussion, or recommend to each other. Sometimes we want a quick way to glance at a series or title.

Maybe it isn't clear but what I did (in addition to simply sorting and categorizing all the works) was to create a shelf just for Goodreads authors who participate in this group. That's where you all should have all your titles listed.

Its useful for many reasons, I can assure you. If you dont see your books in that shelf:

https://www.goodreads.com/group/books...

Let me know.

Had a bit of free time to get caught up on my moderating duties this weekend.

Still not sure I caught every task I assigned myself. It becomes confusing when a mystery author is in both of my mystery groups.

Jenny Milchman, Kayne Milhomme, JR Lindemuth, JR Rogers, Lisa Albers, Maria E. Schneider, Jerold Last, A.C. Efverman, and John Addieggo --you all 'gave me fits' this month! ha. Like they say in baseball.

The good news is that --at my call for volunteer help--a member of Mystery Lovers! has stepped forward to assist me.

Three cheers for Mallory Heart! Mallory's gesture is a fine and generous one. She'll help me keep up with duties around here. Just need to find some time to show her the ropes.

We may even introduce some new features (or, features we've never got around to implementing before).

Oh well. Those of you I named above, make sure I got all your news items correct; and you other authors who have books due out soon--send me the info I usually need, approx three weeks in advance.

See, when I do a "group activity update" I need to have it all at my fingertips; its quite complicated and consumes an entire afternoon. So, thank you in advance if you can make it smoother.
