I'm fairly certain these are the exact same edition of this book:

The ISBN listed in the former record is a partial of the ISBN of the latter. The page counts differ slightly by 8 pages, though I'm holding the actual book in my hands and there is no pagination at all which may partially explain the confusion (Amazon's record says 128 pages). I tried merging and deleting 1 record myself, but did not know about this super librarian business.

#540: I ran the ISBN through a converter and, yes, it says that the check digit should be an 8 and not a 0 (possibly, perhaps, because the matching ISBN-10 has a 0 at the end?).

Anyway, all done, but please in future can you separate out the editions that need merging?

There's a mass-separation tool, so if you click on "all editions" from the book's page, then on the righthand side there's a link that says "separate". Just check the box on the editions you wish to separate.

Separate both books. The duplicate and the edition with the matching isbn. The duplicate will be merged into the matching edition. In your request, separate both Portugese editions. Merging keeps the shelvings and reviews. By merging into the Portugese edition, users will have the same (more correct) edition on their shelves. When both editions are not separated and a merge will be done, the duplicate will be merged into the most popular edition; an English edition in your example.

Standard librarians are able to delete/merge books with less than 5 adds, but a super librarian is required for more. It is generally always best to ask here if unsure (there is a section in the Librarian Manual on combining, separating and merging)! :)

#549: I have performed a merge (which is basically deleting one record and having all the reviews and adds transferred to another). We do not delete outright when editions have been added by users, which is what the merge is for! Also, it's easy enough to tidy up records if they contain incorrect information.

Anyway, there is just one version now, with the ASIN. When you add a record, it is best to add in the ASIN/ISBN as soon as you know it, as the extra edition was added by the Amazon import, so if you add information as soon as you know it you can stay one step ahead of the import. :)

I deleted the first one, but superlibrarians only are allowed to delete books which contain reviews, even though this consists only one review. A superlibrarian will delete this. I'm sorry.

Hi there! I just noticed that there's a duplicate page for my book, A QUESTION OF TIME, that's come out recently. The new page features an ASIN; the older one features the ISBN. The two pages should really be merged.
