Sherlock Holmes
Portia wrote: "We saw S1 E1 last night and it was absolutely delightful. The scenes in the restaurant were some of the funniest I've watched in a long time. Benedict Cumberbatch excelled as Sherlock, reminding ..."Ah, the Mr. Creosote sketch! I heart Monty Python :)
S3 Ep 1 had me in stitches the first half. Especially during the scene with Sherlock and Mycroft while Sherlock's getting dressed after "being rescued". My favorite meeting of old friends was w/ Inspector Lestrade, I have to say. Rupert Graves is perfection to me anyways but what he said and how he said it when faced with Sherlock was brilliant. And how about that kiss after shaking the glass out of his hair?...I was jealous. Not gonna lie ;)
Apparently they had a "mini episode" back in December to peak everyone's interest again. You can watch it for free at www.pbs.com It was pretty clever how they built up to the fact that he could be alive. Its only about 7 minutes but you understand more why Lestrade simply said what he said when meeting Sherlock again. Also had a scene with Watson that nearly made me cry!
The mini episode "Many Happy Returns" was a delight.I actually found myself liking Anderson. And Lestrade did THE best head desk movement ever! :D
Allie wrote: "That was awesome! I actually watched that part over again and then sat rubbing my own head. Ouch!"So did I! I laughed so damn much at that. Rupert Graves and Jonathan Aris work so well together.
They usually repeat it during the week, late at night/early morning. If you're talking about PBS that is.
Definitely check your PBS schedule for this week. Often our station rebroadcasts "Masterpiece Mystery" on Thursday nights.
Also, I think you can watch the first episode on pbs.orgI get 3 pbs channels, but being in Canada, I can't access the episodes on the website, but those of you in the US should be able to I would think
I tried to watch it on the website and its not on there yet. I think they have to wait a certain amount of time before it available for viewing. I've looked it up for you Happy. Its on Thursday @ 9:00 p.m. and then right after is a special about all the actors who've played Sherlock Holmes. Might be interesting. Also if you miss the 9:00 replay, its on again @ 2:00 a.m.
Thanks from me, Allie. I've seen the episode but wouldn't mind a replay and the show about all those who have played Sherlock sounds really interesting.
No problem Portia. I accidentally deleted the episode from my dvr so I'm going to record it again, along with the special :) I hope Happy sees this in time!

tnnx - I'll even be off of work :) - I work graves
I think Emily Nussbaum's analysis of S1 is really interesting.http://www.newyorker.com/arts/critics...
Jon wrote: "For any fans of the Cumberbatch Sherlock Home Series, there's rumours of a big screen adaptation."Hmmm.....reeeeehilllllllllllllleeeeeeee? That was my best over the computer impression of how Jim Carrey says "really" all interested in the Ace Ventura movies. No one probably knows what I'm talking about, ha!
Jon wrote: "For any fans of the Cumberbatch Sherlock Home Series, there's rumours of a big screen adaptation."That's all it is. A rumour. Seasons 4 and 5 have already been planned out.
Really, each season is basically 3 movies anyway, as at 90 minutes, each one is considered feature length.
That's true Margaret, I didn't think of the time. It goes by so fast :(Glad to hear there's a season 4 & 5 to look forward to! Awesome :D
Andy wrote: "offers up selection of nibbles..... episode 3 was really good - back to form??"The ending Andy? Surprised?
Mark wrote: "Andy wrote: "Not really, it had to be didnt it? jus hope they dont go flogging it thou'"I hope not."
I take it, yous thought the ending appropriate? diffo to say too much for fear of spoilers for the colonial viewers I guess :)
Margaret wrote: "My season 3 Sherlock dvds have arrived. *does happy dance*"I couldn't believe that X........ ;) as if we'd spoil it for yous
Just finished a really great Sherlock Holmes pastiche.Dust and Shadow: An Account of the Ripper Killings by Dr. John H. Watson

I can't believe this Sunday will be the last one. Waited soooooooo loonnnnggggg for it to start and its already over :(
I know. :(I don't know if it is true or not, but the source I had it from is reliable.
Because there won't be time to shoot the next season before the end of this year, they will shoot a one off Christmas special for Christmas 2014.
Well.... there will be a British Shindig on the opening of season 4..... BUT..... seeing as "they who shall remain nameless" froze me outta there own private little party in their onesies... :P :P I say
And we had a fabulous time too!!!! Maybe, if "someone" is a good little boy, he'll be invited to our season 4 party ;) lol!
Watched the Empty Hearse on dvd yesterday. Absolutely bloody brilliant.Fantastic script with incredible nuances. Had to go and blog about it this morning. :D
Brian wrote: "Just an update for fans, Sherlock Season 3 is now on Netflix, for those who haven't seen it. Will definitely be watching it again. Also, says there will be bonus content, for what its worth."Probably the extra content that's on the dvds.
The BBC have announced that a Sherlock special will be shot in January 2015, with another 3 episodes to compromise series 4 to be shot during 2015.As I am going to be in London for 3 weeks next year I am hoping they'll be doing some London filming whilst I am there.
Terri wrote: "That will be nice for you! if you can watch some."It would be the icing of the trip cake. But I won't bewail if it doesn't happen. Benedict will be in rehearsals for "Hamlet" so any filming would be with other characters anyway. :)
Dawn wrote: "I found a pair of shoes for you Margaret, https://www.etsy.com/listing/18068846..."Ooooooh. *wants*
Alas, too rich for my blood at the moment, with saving for London next year.

Those are awesome :)
Possibly the weirdest Sherlock Holmes novel I have ever read.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I agree his French is quite good. I believe he spends a great deal of time (or did) in France.
