Rem | 80 comments I read this book in 2010.it was a short novel, for adults I think.I am pretty sure the author was a woman, and I think the setting was in the US in the late 60s and 70s.I believe it took place in the South as well as the north east. I cannot remember the character's names, but the white girl who is the protagonist has a relationship with a young black man, who I think she writes letters to.I believe she is jewish and has to work for an old blind, black lady.the detail I remember the most is that she steals something from the old woman (silverware?)and the old woman knows even though she can't see.the other thing I remember is there is a sex scene outside in the woods between the young couple. I want to say it was published in the 1990s but I could be wrong.
It could not have been more than about 260 pages or so, and the cover was dark, maybe black or navy blue. The covers writing was maybe in silver or white.

Ayshe | 4721 comments Could it be White Girls? (I haven't read it so I don't know if it has the details you mention.)

Rem, are you still looking for this book? Is it Ayshe's suggestion of White Girls?
