Jasmine Cobb Frank and Annabeth talked, Annabeth and Hazel talked too. Also, remember that Jason, Piper, Leo and Annabeth have been hanging out at camp before MoA. I just Rick would have described their conversations more than he did.

they talked cause they went together on most of the times the group split up, remember?

I agree, they didn't seem like a real team. Piper and Annabeth's friendship is mentioned, but never really explored. Sure, sometimes they have good little talks, but they just aren't friends, you know? I mean, Frank hates Leo, Leo and Hazel are awkward with each other, Jason and Percy have the whole leadership rivalry going on, Jason and Piper's so called relationship is awkward, as is Frank and Hazel's... really, the only strong bond on that ship is between Percy and Annabeth. It definitely brought down the book.

Ananth When you think about it,both Leo and Nico are alone.
Percy Jackson - Annabeth Chase
Jason Grace - Piper McLean
Frank Zhang - Hazel Levesque
Leo Valdez - Esperanza Valdez(mother)(dead)
Nico di Angelo - Bianca di Angelo(sister)(dead)

Julia Mark of Athena is the first book that had the whole team together. Naturally, it would take some time to form some cohesion among the team. There was also that rivalry between Jason and Percy that would make the others feel somewhat polarized loyalties between them. Again, that will work itself out in time.

When you think about it, both Leo and Nico are alone.

Not really. I'm finding Riordan fans tend to get too caught up in the romantic relationships (maybe it's the age group?).

Leo is not alone, he just doesn't have a girlfriend. Sure this makes him feel like a 7th wheel, but that's not the same as being alone. He has his two best friends - Jason and Piper - right there by his side. If either of them were single, he wouldn't feel like a 7th wheel anymore, despite still being single himself.

Nico is very alone, but he has some issues to work through

If you're going to respond to this, please remember that this thread is in the Mark of Athena forum, so anything about House of Hades is a SPOILER and should be marked appropriately.

I keep wishing fans would stop putting so much stock in the boyfriend/girlfriend aspects of these books and learn to value the non-romantic relationships just as much.

Ananth But Leo has had a tough life too. His mother's(Esperanza Valdez) death scarred him emotionally for the rest of his life.

Yeah, you have to wait until the last two books for them finally interact with one another.

Anton These are the interactions which I have not seen yet:
Percy - Piper
Percy - Leo
Annabeth - Jason
Annabeth - Hazel
Frank - Jason
Frank - Piper
Hazel - Piper
Hazel - Jason
