I haven't read it yet, but I've been wanting to for years. I am excited to join the Strangers and Aliens on this reading adventure!

I have also never read Out of the Silent Planet before. The only reason I do not believe I have is time, motivation and not having a copy laying around.
I have a copy laying around that you could use, Daniel...after I have completed the reading. :)
Matt I have a copy in route from the library.I'm kicking myself because they had Kindle versions for like $3 earlier this year.
I've read it a few times before, but not as many times as Perelandra or That Hideous Strength. It's been a long time, so I'm really interested to discover what I get out of this book that I never did before!
I've read it once. I got all three stories in a single volume from my library. I'll either get it from the library again or from the local used bookstore (if they have it).
I've not read it...mostly because it just never made it on to my "must read" radar. I've never heard stellar recommendations for it...
I read it a very long time ago. I don't remember much about it except that I wasn't nearly as taken with it as I was with Narnia
I have not read it yet but it's on my to do list-- I've always enjoyed his books.
Have never read it, and S&A is providing the perfect excuse to remedy that. Looking forward to it!
Just finished it. I had started once before but for some reason I could not get into it. I was pleasently surprised. Really looking forward to the next books in the series.
Yes I heard you mention that on a podcast (I say a podcast because can't remember if you said it on Strangers and Aliens or The Sci-fi Christian) but it definetly piqued my interest.

So, in your podcast intro episode, you mentioned John Carter in passing; but do we know whether CSL ever read ERB or not? I'm curious, not only because of the general overlap of subject matter here, but also by DeVine and Weston's rocket ship being, as you mentioned, powered by unknown solar radiation - kind of like the "ninth ray" powers the flying ships on Barsoom, right?I'm about 50 pp into SILENT PLANET so far and am enjoying it.
I can see similar world building between Princess of Mars and Out if the Silent Planet. Both main characters go "native" learning language and culture. Since Princess was originally published in a pull magazine I like the speculative notion he read Princess.
I read it so many years ago, that Imremembered very little. Thanks for giving me a valid reason to discover these books again.
