Paul | 341 comments Just in case you missed them, here are a couple of older Time Travel novels worth checking out. They're especially good fun for baby boomers, or sons and daughters of boomers, who'd enjoy a trip back to the turbulent sixties. I added both to the Group Bookshelf for a quick link to reviews and plot descriptions.

The first is "Glimpses" by Lewis Shiner, a story about a Rock music and audio technology buff from the eighties finding himself back in time with Jim Morrison and Jimi Hendrix in LA, trying to produce legendary unfinished vinyl that never made it to the stores. There's plenty of other drama going in his past and present, but the TT alone was enough to hook me.

The other is "The Summer of Love" by Lisa Mason, which features a young traveler from the future fitting in quite well in San Francisco of 1967. I was flying high over SF myself that summer -- but NO, not like that -- on my first airplane trip ever for school in Honolulu. Plenty of peace and love and rock 'n' roll, with even more flowers. Made it to SF the following summer, but the blossoms were already fading.

Interesting concepts, both. Enjoy.

Hi Howard,

Judging by the young face in your picture, I can only assume that any memories you might have of the sixties weren't gathered the same way mine were -- birth and aging. Which leads to the only logical conclusion: you escaped your own timeline to visit the Summer of Love yourself. Way to go! Either way works, but time travel is preferred.

BTW, I need to add you to my To-read list.

Paul (paullev) | 829 comments Just my cup of tea, Paul! The second novelette in my "Ian's Ions and Eons" series - "Ian, Isaac, and John" - is about a trip back to the 1970s in which David Bowie and John Lennon are players.

The first two novelettes in the series were published in Analog Magazine in 2011. I'll be putting them out with one or two more as a Kindle collection later this year.

Paul, here's the Intro to my latest Epic Fable, posted on Youtube, to see if you like my style.

A different picture, too:

Paul's TT book is good also, but for different reasons.

Again, welcome to our group.

Hi Paul,

A trip back with Bowie and Lennon? It's a Beatles song that stirs time traveling tendencies in "Glimpses." And I recall Bowie coming on the scene in the early 70s when people on this side of the pond weren't sure what to make of him. Times were changing . . . again.

I enjoy occasional musical references in fiction, even if the music isn't the point. You might appreciate that I very briefly included Bob Dylan and Bo Diddley (sort of) in my own Time Travel novel set mainly in 18th century Virginia ("An Extended Journey," Amazon Kindle). No, not in person, not sitting down for a chat with Thomas Jefferson -- let's not be silly! (next time) -- but they work. (If we're going to write, might as well have fun.)

I look forward to your series later this year. Thanks.

Looking good, Howard. I do like your style, and also Tej's review. And I've been enjoying your TT Group posts. Thanks!

Paul (paullev) | 829 comments Thanks, Paul - I'll need to read Glimpses.

Lennon also figures in the 3rd novelette in my "Loose Ends" time travel series, also published in Analog, in the 1990s - and also needing a Kindle collection, which I also will do sometime in 2013 ...

Paul (paullev) | 829 comments I should also mention that I've made a little rock 'n' roll myself - with an album, Twice Upon a Rhyme, and lots of other stuff ... http://www.reverbnation.com/paullevinson

Cheryl (cherylllr) Glimpses for the link, so that the book shows up on the right, here -> and so that this discussion shows up on the book page.

I can't find the other book anywhere. I can add it to goodreads if you can provide a link to the author's or publisher's website, or a library, such as worldcat - even if the only source is amazon I can at least add a skeleton listing.

Paul | 341 comments Hi Cheryl,

They're both available on Amazon in Kindle format, and probably in used hardcover and paperback versions, too. Sounds like you already located "Glimpses," but I think I see the mix-up with Summer of Love. Some versions add the sub-title "A Time Travel" while others don't. Same book, though. Then just to make this more challenging, I mis-typed the author's first name, though it's correct in the TT Group bookshelf. It's LISA Mason, a Goodreads author. Sorry 'bout that. I hope this helps. Thanks for catching this.

Cheryl (cherylllr) Summer of Love, A Time Travel is her book, then - so it's all good. Thanks!
