Pillars of the Earth yes and loved it.
World Without End not yet but I have the series on Netflix so I should before they remove it from the quay.

AmyK (yakyma) | 1045 comments My mom abpnd I started watching the series, but there was to much going on.....maybe we should revisit that. I loved the books though!

You'll be joining the rest of us who are impatiently waiting the last book in the trilogy.

I will admit to having tiny feet, meaning the shoes are small and the handbag isn't quite the size of a bus but it is certainly capacious. >:-)

Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 11457 comments What I am reading is In Cold Pursuit: A Mystery From The Last Continent.

Why? Because, for no rational reason, I am compelled to read (instead of just return) books that I have checked out from the library, which have absolutely no bearing on my stalled ABC challenge!☻

message 211: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59889 comments I suffer from that same problem Almeta. Must read all checked out books. (Which is probably why I only check out 1 or 2 at a time.)

Mine is at a manageable 13. It was over 40!!

I must stop impulsively ordering books that other members have read and enjoyed! I'm afraid that I'll put them on the TBR list and that they will get lost in the shuffle. I want to read them all now!

It would sure be nice is everyone read in alphabetical order. ;)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments I have just finished The Sense of an Ending. It proved to be a rather strange reading experience for me. I thought that it threw up some interesting questions/debates about what it is to be a human, how we form and use memories and how we try to justify/rationalise the things we do/say and the decisions we make etc. However, I also found it a very frustrating book as I felt that the plot did not really go anywhere and the whole debate thing became a bit repetitive after a while. I gave it a 3 star rating because I didn't love it but I didn't hate it either. I may well read it again at some point because it could be one of those books that gets better (or worse) with repeat readings.

I have gotten into the very same habit! I keep telling myself, "NO MORE LIBRARY HOLDS!"

Lisa, I agree. The Sense of an Ending is a strange little book.

I concede to you Almeta. Wow! 40 books is half my annual reading. LOL!

message 217: by Roz (new)

Roz | 4528 comments I'm amazed. No limit on how many books you can have out at once? I think mine has a if-you-can-carry-it-to-your-car-in-one-trip-that's-your-limit limit. The most I had was 7.

200 items!

Although single, I sometimes pretend that I have a large family and am picking up books for my husband and a passel of children! Or maybe I'm doing extensive research.

It is, of course, all in my imagination. No one has actually ever raised an eyebrow. Once a librarian actually helped me carry things to the car.☺

Another chunky book, very impressive. I'll be interested in what you think of it. It's been so long since I read A Discovery of Witches that I'm afraid I've forgotten too much.

I keep putting books on hold, but I suspend the hold til a later date. How pitiful is that, when I'm putting a hold on a hold?!

I like the long ones ... meaty ... just 30 hours.
