SOLVED. A retelling of the Rapunzel story from the point of view of the servant [s]

It's about a girl born with a large birthmark on her face in a poor village. She gets asked to become a maid in the capital city, and agrees. Before she knows it she's the servant of an unruly princess who is to be trapped in a tower so she can't marry the prince she wants and marries the one her father picks instead. The prince she wants to marry comes to see her, but she makes the servant impersonate her instead. Eventually they run out of food and manage to escape, and they find work as servants in a nearby village. The princess is found, stuff goes down, and the servant girl eventually faces an enemy army on a cold field by herself. Does anyone know who wrote it/what it's called? It's been killing me. I really liked the book.
