See, this was part of the plot that didn't make sense to me. Granted, I read this book while seriously sleep-deprived and not terribly capable of complex thoughts, but I couldn't figure out why, in such a dicey, high-risk situation, the leaders would allow a claustrophobic forest ranger to tag along.
Good point Ashley, I can see where those thoughts would come from. Frieda knew Anna, and they had worked together before, and had a trusting relationship existing. With Frieda knowing that she had been hurt on purpose would create mistrust among the crews there on sight. Anna, YES, being claustrophobic was very good at working through the caves even though she has issues. I admired her courage through the book. In her other works, I've found in some of the books she has faced other similar trials which are also a bit out of her comfort zone. Super Woman she isn't, but she has a lot of courage to have this type of job.

I've read 10 of her books so far. I really like them overall. Some of the later ones weren't quite as good as the earlier ones, but they're still quite good. It appears the software only shows about 5 of the questions when there are 11. There are more if interested. Thanks for your your response. Good feedback. Wanted to thank you too Julie & Alisha & Lauren (hope I didn't forget anyone) for your feedback of Santaland. Enjoyed that too.
