message 4: by Luann (new)

Luann (azbookgal) I agree, Alicia. I enjoyed it a lot, and am counting down the days until Catching Fire comes out! Have you read any of her Gregor series?

message 5: by Alicia (new)

Alicia (amoree) | 11 comments I have not read the Gregor series. Are they good. I am SO ready for Catching Fire.

Have you read Graceling by Kristin Cashore? It is really good, also. As is City of Bones...

The Gregor series are what got me hooked on Suzanne Collins...when I heard that she had a new series out I was seriously stoked. And now I am anxiously awaiting Catching Fire...

Janeen-san (misswannareadalot) | 432 comments Is the the sequel to The Hunger Games?

message 8: by Alicia (new)

Alicia (amoree) | 11 comments Catching Fire is the sequal to Hunger Games. I think it is due out the first part of September.

message 11: by Luann (new)

Luann (azbookgal) Graceling is on my TBR list, although I'm not sure how soon I'll get to it. There's only one copy available in my library district and it's an advanced publication copy. I'll probably wait until one of the libraries here gets a full-fledged copy.

message 14: by Alicia (new)

Alicia (amoree) | 11 comments Hunger Games takes place in the future in the "ruins" of North America. There are 12 districts and each district must send a boy and a girl between ages 12 and 18 to participate in the games where only the winner survives.

message 15: by Alicia (new)

Alicia (amoree) | 11 comments It is really good. I liked it when I was reading it, but the more I think about it, the stronger my feelings about it are. It just sort of sticks with you.

message 20: by Kay (new)

Kay (serieslyready) | 13 comments I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but if you are between the ages of twelve and seventeen, you probably won't have to wait much longer to read Catching Fire, unlike some people. I'm past the legal limit by two years. Any who, just go to http://www.scholastic.com/thehungerga... to find out the details.

message 21: by Janeen-san (new)

Janeen-san (misswannareadalot) | 432 comments What do you MEAN "past the legal limit"?

Kay (serieslyready) | 13 comments ♥Janeen-san♥ wrote: "What do you MEAN "past the legal limit"?"

Well, I'm no longer a minor, and even if I was 18, I wouldn't be able to enter. You can't be any older than seventeen, or younger than twelve as of May 15, 2009. :)

Kay (serieslyready) | 13 comments Snorkle wrote: "The Gregor series are what got me hooked on Suzanne Collins...when I heard that she had a new series out I was seriously stoked. And now I am anxiously awaiting Catching Fire..."

The complete opposite happened with me. I hadn't heard of the Gregor the Overlander Chronicles, or Suzanne Collins, until I read the Hunger Games. I liked it so much I have read almost all of her books. The last in the other series hasn't been checked into the library yet, sadly.

message 25: by Kay (new)

Kay (serieslyready) | 13 comments Does anyone know how someone like me can get an ARC of Catching Fire? I'm not a publisher, librarian, or anyone else I can think of that they give them to. Let me know if you find out how, I'll do the same.

Megan | 1 comments Just finished it and I am in awe!! I told my friends and my mother they had to read it, but then told them they had to wait for me to read it again!! I can't wait for Catching Fire, and I already love the title.

message 32: by Janeen-san (new)

Janeen-san (misswannareadalot) | 432 comments Yeah, the title sounds really cool! It sounds like something dangerous is going to happen, or something...

message 34: by Minam (new)

Minam hunger games are wicked! absolutely loved that book. wanna read the next one!

message 35: by Terra Timmons (new)

Terra Timmons Hey all, I read the Hunger Games after reading all of the Twilight books because I was obsessed with anything Stephenie Meyer did. She had the book down as a recommendation. I also just read Catching Fire the day it came out. Just when you think it can't get any better, it does. Also, take a look in the front cover page. Where they show you what the font size is and all that... I read that it's a Trilogy! GASP! So exciting!

message 36: by Minam (new)

Minam ohh yea, both stephanie meyer and stephen king wrote that the book was great and it was! lol sum ppl in my class wer saying it might be "The next twilight" haha so theyre getting the book before it becomes super-popular and then more expensive. lol.

message 37: by Terra Timmons (new)

Terra Timmons Heck yeah, I mean I love great books, and I was reading Twilight before it got really big, and now, its like, I still LOVE it, but all the hype is making me sick of it. lol

Maria (mriakhn) Terra wrote: "Hey all, I read the Hunger Games after reading all of the Twilight books because I was obsessed with anything Stephenie Meyer did. She had the book down as a recommendation. I also just read Catc..."

A TRIOLOGY??? oh gosh...i'm in between catching fire and was hoping it would FINISH this time. :( now i don't want to wait that long!! :( (but it's really gud...just 3 BOOKS?)

message 39: by Terra Timmons (new)

Terra Timmons I know, I really don't want to wait another year too. I didn't even know catching fire was coming out. I thought The Hunger Games was it. But I am also very excited to see what happens next! :-) How are you liking it so far Cecily?

message 40: by Maria (new)

Maria (mriakhn) i think it's pretty gud! :) the person who recommended it me told another person, "i know, don't u just love it? and the sequel is coming out in Sept!" + i thought Hunger Games was VERY open-ended, don't u agree?
