Author Profile DOB display

I do not see a way for an author to list their date of birth (DOB) on their author profile page, yet choose to keep it private and not have it publicly displayed. (This choice is available for a non-author profile.) A Group I've been in has recently chosen to restrict membership to those over 18, which requires some way to verify the DOB. If I add in my DOB on my author profile it is publicly displayed, which can be a security issue and not an option for me. So, I am locked out of this Group's discussions. Am I missing something on the author profile page that allows the DOB to be entered yet kept private?

You aren't missing anything. There is an issue with it that is being worked on. There is a discussion going on about in this thread in the Feedback group:

Neither. The thread in question (which both Thena and I linked above) is in the general Feedback Group.

The "groups" menu choice at top mentions the three "official" (i.e., staff involved and monitor) groups about midway down — useful for authors to join. This one for book specific issues, goodreads feedback for goodreads issues in general, and goodreads author feedback group.
