ABANDONED. Romance book, possibly by Nicholas Sparks but not sure...

This is a book I read a few years ago. It's in the style of Nicholas Sparks so that's why I was thinking it may be one of his books, but I'm not sure, and don't know the title. It wasn't even one of my favorite books, not even close, but it made me cry more than any other book has before, and it drives me crazy that I can't think of the name. I don't remember a lot, but it's a love story about a marriage. If I remember their marriage has it's ups and downs, and possibly there's a time when either the husband or wife leaves for a few days and the other doesn't know if he or she is coming back. But in the end, their relationship is better than ever, and they have a child on the way. But seriously in like the last chapter, everything goes wrong. Somehow they make you think there are problems with the baby being born, and you start freaking out that the baby is going to die, but the baby is born and is fine. But then all of a sudden, the mom dies and the husband is left to raise this baby by himself. And I feel like at the end he talks about how he doesn't know how to feel about this child bc of the way things happened. It's a horribly sad ending, but I still want to know the name of it for some reason. So help please if you can!!! Thanks!!
