I finished The Book of Harold: The Illegitimate Son of God which is a satirical piece about religion.I am currently reading The Dog Stars and I am finding it quite engaging.
Up next is Cinderella Ate My Daughter: Dispatches from the Front Lines of the New Girlie-Girl Culture so I can better understand girl culture these days.
Just read:

Bomb: The Race to Build—and Steal—the World's Most Dangerous Weapon just won several awards at the American Library Association Newbery Awards
@ lisa, the hearts of horses is a book i really love. it is short, but really has a great protagonist. i hope you enjoy it.
I've just finished Blue Remembered Hills: A Recollection by Rosemary Sutcliff. It's a memoir of her childhood and I thought it was just lovely. (I also have Look Back With Love by Dodie Smith, another memoir of a writer's childhood, out from the library.)Right now I'm reading The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley as part of a read along. Theoretically, I have 2 days to read the last 75%.
I'm not sure after that. Maybe Wool Omnibus by Hugh Howey, or the Dodie Smith memoir, or the new Susanna Kearsley, The Firebird. Or maybe I'll end up picking something completely different.
I just read
Lovely collection of surprising and innovative short stories.
I am reading
This is Hillary Mantel's novel on the French revolution. I loved Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies, and I had just seen Les Mis, so this is perfect.
I would like to read far too many books, but most likely the next one will be
I got it for Christmas, and I am curious to see what Rowling can do with a book for adults.
I just finished Pigs in Heaven by Barbara Kingsolver, after reading The Bean Trees over New Year's break. I LOVED both books and can't believe I didn't read them sooner!I am now almost finished with I Still Dream About You by Fanny Flagg for my book group tomorrow - eh, it is OK, but the Kingsolver novels ruined me for any other fiction!
Next? Hmmm....I usually alternate between YA and adult, so maybe....The Far West by Patricia Wrede, last book in an excellent trilogy.

Great Books for Kids and Teens
Book By Book
I just read A Novel Bookstore by Laurence Cosse (which I won from Simon just over a year ago - thank you!) and really enjoyed it. I'm currently reading an advance copy of Brain on Fire by Susannah Cahalan, which is published next week. So far I really like it despite the fact the author writes for a tabloid paper!
Next up, in fact this weekend, I'm going to start reading Crime and Punishment. I'm doing a readalong so that I can take it slow and steady. Hopefully this time I'll get further than 100 pages...
I just read Devil's Pass. It's part of a Canadian YA series that I consider to be life lessons nestled in adventures. This is the sixth book of seven in the series and it was my favourite so far.I'm currently reading A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and can't believe how much I have in common with Francie Nolan, the main character. I heard about it a long time ago and added it to my TBR...so long ago that I can't remember what the synopsis was and am now reading it with no idea what's going to happen next.
I plan to read To Kill a Mockingbird next, just in time for Freedom To Read week (February 24-March 2, 2013).
Then I have to decide between The Prince and the Pauper, Reading in the Brain: The Science and Evolution of a Human Invention, and The Song of Achilles.
I finished
The Borrower which I gave one star and did not enjoy.I am now reading
Someone Knows My Name which is, so far, quite moving.I am most likely going to read
Black Flower next (that's what's on my nightstand anyway).
I just finished this audiobook of Edith Wharton short stories
- I really like Roman FeverI'm currently reading
, which is so far weird in a nice way, but my final verdict will probably depend a lot on, how the different tracks of the story are tied together.I'm going to read this soon, as I have to finish it for book club in early March
I finished reading
The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making recently which I found quite amazing and imaginative. I highly recommend this book.I am currently reading
The Secret Book of Frida Kahlo: A Novel.I plan on reading
The Last Runaway next.

I am now reading Downside Girls.
Then I plan to make a start on that epic Vorkosigan Saga; reading Shards of Honour
