SOLVED. a series about witches, published around 2005 [s]

When I was in elementary school I read a book about witches, then a sequel came out soon after. I remember basically nothing about it, except I think the protagonist was young, maybe in her teens or early 20s. I was a very good reader even in elementary school, so this could have been a high school or adult level book. I seem to remember it being much wordier than everything else I was reading at the time. I barely remember one scene where the protagonist is either in or looking at a tower and there's something about ravens or some other bird, and there was conflict within this coven of witches that she was thinking about. Please let me know if you have any idea what this book is, I've been searching for it for a long time!

Check out the books by Kate Forsyth. She has The Witches of Eileanan series and Rhiannon's Ride (which has a book called the Tower of Ravens).
