Finished my reread of King's third Dark Tower book The Waste LandsMy review http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
Finished A Dance With Dragons. Here's my review
Taking a break from 2 books at a time for awhile, at least until I catch up on my reading for this week of Deadhouse Gates.

Aloha Lady BlueI shouldn't even be doing this
Fantastic Voyage: Live Long Enough to Live Forever
Tears in Rain
Finished the Bridge of Birds, and decided to start on The Name of the Wind after watching The Geek and Sundry hangout with Patrick Rothfuss. So far I'm loving it!
Just finished Third Shift - Pact to conclude Shift series. Can't wait for Dust to come out!At the moment I'm still in the post-apocalyptic reads with The Road
Finished the 3rd Dresden book on Audible Grave PerilMy review http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
Started the audio version of The Wise Man's Fear
40 hours of log cake here I come.
Finished Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Always enjoy reading HP. Nice and short but fun. Now on to Cloud Atlas.
Finished up Eight Skilled Gentlemen and with it The Chronicles of Master Li and Number Ten Ox.Star Wars: Scoundrels is next up for me.
I started The Rook while driving around on Tuesday. I know that some people didn't like it, but I'm about 1/4 through and am finding it enjoyable if not particularly deep.On the plane with my travels, I've been catching up on downloaded podcasts. Will need to see if the hotel I'm at has enough bandwidth for me to stream the latest show.
I've also brought a copy of Downbelow Station with me on this trip.
Reading The Day of the Triffids, probably finish it in the next two days. I've got Synners next in line I think.

Oh haven't read The Day of the Triffids for ages:)
Trying to find a copy of The Tripods Trilogy which isn't too expensive.
Alexandra wrote: "Trying to find a copy of The Tripods Trilogy which isn't too expensive."I read those books (and the Prydain series) incessantly back in the day.
Just finished The Dragon Reborn audiobook for my Wheel Of Time marathon. Need a momentary break from that series. Light. Just picked up Mistborn: The Final Empire audiobook which is going to be odd as it's another Michael Kramer narration. Finished Bridge of Birds: A Novel of an Ancient China That Never Was earlier in the month and going to try to read the next book in the series as I have the omnibus.
Just started reading Kushiel's Dart. It's been sitting in my library/junkroom upstairs forever, and had even been slipped into a box of discards intended for the local used book store (I hadn't purchased it, someone had given it to me). When I finally started reading the questions topic for author Jacqueline Carey, I recognized it and was intrigued by the queries, so I dug it out of said box and started reading. And, of course, by this time the topic was closed, so I'll have to wait for the episode thread to make any comments.
Will say now that this is some of the loveliest prose I've read in quite some time. I love finding authors who make me, as a writer, feel humble. I know then that I'm learning something new about storytelling, and am grateful for the experience.
Jeff wrote: "Just picked up Mistborn: The Final Empire audiobook which is going to be odd as it's another Michael Kramer narration"I enjoyed the trilogy on audio as well as The Alloy of Law.
I think Michael Kramer's narration definitely contributed to the enjoyment.
Reading Insignia. Just started so can't say definitely, but the prose is too choppy sometimes. The premise, that the government will recruit video gamers to control space ship battles which in turn are being fought way out in space for control of Earth's resources, is so good though.
Just finished By Heresies Distressed and am now getting started on Downbelow Station for the S&L pick. About half way through Phantom on audiobook.

Yeah I read them a lot. I have no idea where my copies went. Come to think of it they may well have been library ones.
I will probably get them again. The birthday fairy bought me some waterstones vouchers so if I can find where they went I might buy one.
Alexandra wrote: "Yeah I read them a lot. I have no idea where my copies went. Come to think of it they may well have been library ones."I never owned them myself, but there was one set in the school library that had my name listed on the checkout card (remember those?) over and over and over.
Oh, and I finished The Long Reach of Night and started The Sword of Shadows, Adrian Cole's last Voidal novel.
Finished Asimov's The Gods Themselves, almost done with The Disappearing Spoon. So I'm starting Hyperion since its been sitting in my to read stack for a bit.
I've started Zero history: A novel, by Rob ReidIt's a funny Sci-fi book. Very enjoyable.
You probably shouldn't read it in public.
Your random maniacal laughter may lead others to believe
that you've skipped your meds.
Again
I've been away with the Proust 2013 group in an intense reading of Proust's 4,000 pages In Search of Lost time, and a bunch of auxiliary reads related to Proust. Kevin just liked my bookshelf photo, so I went into his photos. All of his great fantasy photos made me come back here to see what S&L's been into. I noticed that this month's read is a book I've been wanting to read. I'll hit it this weekend and join in the discussion.I just finished the only non-Proust related read, The Man Who Loved Only Numbers: The Story of Paul Erdös and the Search for Mathematical Truth for the Science & Inquiry group. Great read. I think our mathematician Ann would enjoy it. It gives a terrific insight into the mind of a mathematician in a way that both mathematicians and laymans can enjoy. I'll write a review on it after I'm done with my review of the first volume of the Proust tome, Swann's Way.

"I loved Swann's Way and made it half through In the Shadow of Young Girls in Flower. I haven't tried to tackle those again in a while...
A Storm of Swords: Steel and Snow is now being read after finishing The Day of the Triffids which was AMAZING.
Finished Darwin's Children by Greg Bear - a dark book with a strange and hopeful ending. About to reread Heinlein's Double Star.
I've just started Gene Wolfe's Shadow of the Torturer and will soon be starting Charles Dickens' Bleak House with another Goodreads group.
Finished Hammered, it's hard to tell what I think about it, I'll probably need to finish the series to come to any conclusions. Before I do that I'm finally going to finish the Gwyneth Jones' Bold as Love series by starting the last book, Rainbow Bridge.

Just finished Alutia Rising. Interesting mix of Dune and Star Wars with some romance thrown in, even if a little rough around the edges which is not unexpected considering this is the author's first book.
Carolina, Dharmakirti, this would be a great time to read Proust while there's an active group decoding the novel. The group is hopping. Even veterans weren't aware of some details in the novel until we did a group analysis of it. You can join the group here. The group is finishing the first volume this weekend, but I'm ahead and onto the volume 5/6. Reading S&L's pick this month would be a nice break.
Finished When She Woke, a futuristic retelling of The Scarlet Letter where the main character has been colored red after having an abortion, on the 20th. Currently reading Tears in Rain, a Bladerunner inspired replicant story.

If it was another moment in my life I would join, but this year I have a lot on my plate with my PhD to add Proust to it :/ Maybe another time!
I finished Wolf Dawn, but I'm still reading Reaper's Gale though.I started The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: A Trilogy in Four Parts and am currently about 39 % through.
Reading The Autobiography of A Somebody at the moment, but it'll be a quick read.
I ordered Downbelow Station, so I'm looking forward to receiving it! Besides that, I ordered a few of Trudi Canavans books, though I accidentally ordered wrong with one of the books. Already have one of her books on the shelf, but I would like to read them in the order she wrote them, so it will have to wait for now :)
- Sorry for a wall of text, a lot of book updates . . . .
Wrapped up The Sword of Shadows by Adrian Cole, which was reasonably entertaining, and started Railsea by China Miéville, from which I'm expecting great things.
Finished reading Margaret Atwood's Oryx and CrakeMy review http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
Starting the 2nd book in Brent Week's Night Angel Trilogy Shadow's Edge
I enjoyed seeing the movie adaptation of John Dies at the End so much that I've gone and bought the sequel, This Book Is Full of Spiders: Seriously, Dude, Don’t Touch It (maybe the best title ever?).Hope to start it as soon as I finish up Rainbow Bridge.
Working on The Mad Ship. Same world as Assassin's Apprentice, but I like the focus better. The plot is complex and the ideas are intriguing. And she's working toward something very cool!

It was so different it kinda put me off. My husband got the spiders book for xmas and I'm totally plotting to steal it-he's had long enough to get around to it....
