Merida bit back a yawn."Dont worry. I wont be bored." Sge stepped towards him and leaned her head on his shoulder, closing her eyes."I'm tired too.Its been a long day."Her voice trailed off as she fell asleep against him.
He laughed softly, finding it funny that she could fall asleep standing. He managed to help her into bed, having no choice but to wake her again. After she was comfortable in bed, Simon stripped out of his clothes without thought that she might be watching. He pulled on some relaxed pants made, apparently, in India. He found them comfortable and perfect for sleeping and lounging.
Merida stared at the ceiling as Simon undressed.A yawn escaped her lips again and she turned around and curled herself into a fetal position."Hurry up Simon" Her voice was soft and almost teasing.
"Do you need me to fall asleep?" he asked as he finally climbed into his bed. It was made of a pulley system and was usually lifted off the ground like it was now. He had made the mattress out of bird feathers he began collecting after he had eaten them.
Merida blinked a few times. She usually didnt dream. Everything around her was beautiful. She looked around and spotted someone standing a few feet away. Stepping closer, sge realized it was Bracken.
Merida bit her lip."It depends upon what that is Bracken." Her eyes looked over him, making sure he was real but of course he wasnt. This was a dream afterall.
No matter what happens, promise you won't leave the one you love The scene flickered Merida... good bye And the dream ended. The way Bracken said goodbye... it was almost as if he were saying hello
Merida woke up. She sat up in bed and looked at Simon. Her mind was still sorting out what Bracken had said. "Of course. I promise you that I will Bracken." Her voice was soft as she thought of him.
Merida got up without thinking and walked to the window. Her bare feet stepping lightly over the floor. She looked outside and up at the sky. Her gaze was drawn downwards and she saw Bracken.
Bracken was laying in the sunniest spot on the grass, his hair and skin twinkling, and his white clothes almost blinding. His eyes fluttered open as he groaned softly
Merida stood shocked, looking down at Bracken. She started to move and raced out of the room. She gad to get to him. It took time but finally she was running to him. Merida gathered him into her arms and hugged him tightly. Placing a kiss on his forehead."Bracken!" A tear slid down her cheek and landed on his.
"Merida... I..." Bracken took a deep breath "I heard what Simon told you. He's dying, he needs you more than I need you." It hurt him, but he continued "You need to stay with him, regardless of my existence."
"I know Bracken. And I will. I'll stay with him because I love him.More than anything." Merida had saddened at his mention of Simon's death. She hoped that Simon had get better."You'll always be a part of my life Bracken and I need you."She put her hand over his.
Bracken sighed in relief "Then I go." Turmoil swept through his heart yet none of it appeared in his actions. He slid his hands away from hers "May you have good luck in his well-being" Bracken said this in an oddly formal way before turning away
His words sounded cruel to her."Fine. Bye Bracken." She turned away from him and started to walk back the way she had come, wrapping Simons shirt tightly around her.
Simon woke up, noticing that Merida was gone. He looked at the window, momentarily seeing Merida and Bracken together. He padded out to the living room, seeing Merida there. "Merida," he said softly, touching her arm.
"Mmmmm...Coming." She got up slowly and sleepily foollowed him back. The minute she was on the bed with him, she curled up and snuggled into his side. Her fingers finding his."Good night." She smiled sleepily at him.
Merida dreamt of nothing and everything. She was with Simon and then with Bracken. A stolen kiss here and a midnight dance there. Merida was restless as she slept. She woke up and fell back asleep constantly. She didnt realize that she was sharing her dreams with Simon.
Simon woke up early, feeling a little restless and sleep deprived. He flinched as vision upon vision invade his mind, causing a stabbing headache similar to one he had during the night. He saw visions of him and Merida and then visions of Merida and Bracken. Simon began to believe they were future visions of sweet times with her and then her cheating on him with Bracken.
Merida's eyes widened. She turned his face so he was looking at her."I am not going to cheat on you." Her words were forceful. She meant each one."Never."
"It was your dream?" he asked softly, looking up at her as a child light to an older child. He wrapped his arms around her, closing his eyes. "You didn't get any sleep. Let's just stay here today. Sleep?"
Merida nodded against his chest, not wanting to speak. She was confused as to how Simon knew about her dream."That sounds good." Her voice was flat. She started to trace circles on his chest.A nervous habit of hers.
He looked honest, as if he really didn't want her to be bored.
