The Host
question
Which is better the Twilight saga or The Host?

For me personally I thought that the host was better then The Twilight Saga only because I felt I could identify more with it...although that's pretty awkward how does one Identify with going into hiding because the world has been taken over by aliens? Anyway perhaps you thought that The Twilight Saga was better. If so then why?

I read Twilight, but I wasn't moved by it. I know Stephenie gets a lot of criticism for being a bad writer, but I thought The Host was excellent.
So for me, I vote The Host.
So for me, I vote The Host.
I personally enjoyed The Host much more than any of the Twilight books..
For me it was The Host...I feel the standard of writing and character developments in The Host completely blew the not so great writing of Twilight out of the water.I feel Twilight's characters remain very whiny and shallow throughout the saga where in The Host we saw Ian and Jared both learn and change their attitudes...though Jared was still a little pig-headed, ha ha.
The host!, I love the history and the characters but in the twilight saga I really hate Bella.
For me it was "The Host." So very well written and the characters personalities were just addicting.
The Host!
The characters and the storyline are much better than in twiligt. Bella's just an annoying, boring and love sick girl that's totally obsessed with vampires. The only character I liked was Bree. Melanie and Wanderer have some personality and I just love dystopian books.

I liked the Host much better than the Twilight series. I thought the Twilight was all hype and no meat. It was as if Meyer had to meet a publisher's agreement, instead of write a great book, and/or book series. Vampires books are a dime a dozen, any more. Which, I'm sorry, tend to be all the same. Vampire guy... loves non Vampire girl.. It's a forbidden love... Girl becomes Vampire to stay with forbidden man.. (I guess Twilight one upped that by adding Werewolves to the mix..?).. Now, with the Host, you got a great body snatcher story, with rebels and daring escapes.. just enough suspense to keep the story going...and you don't know where it's going to go. You can re-read the Host and still enjoy it. Twilight? Not so much.
Look. Is Twilight sci-fi? No, it is not. Nothing beats sci-fi. NOTHING! SCI-FI ALL THE WAY!
I have read The Host, but I honestly never was interested in the Twilight series. I never read the books but I have watched some of the movies, which was okayy. The last final movie was amazing though. But I still liked The Host more than Twilight. #sorrynotsorry
Definitely The Host. I liked the characters better. Edward & Bella were just getting on my nerves at the end of Twilight. Edward wasn't selfish enough for me, always thinking about Bella first "I don't want you to get hurt so I'm leaving you", I just wanted to shake him like a tree and scream "Protect her or fight for her for god's sake !". I liked Jacob better, he did something at least. And I found Bella so naive ! When the movies got out, it just got worse. So, The Host. Is. A Hundred. Times. Better.
(Sorry if there's any grammar mistakes, I'm French !)

The Host is so much better!!! Not just because of the story line but because of the characters. Melanie and Wonderer lived with intention and had a purpose to be there, Bella was just there to be there, she didn't truly help with anything.
Twilight Saga is favorite book series. I did like The Host but not like Twilight.
Definitely The Host. I enjoyed the Twilight Saga. But the idea of the Host is much more creative and the characters have much more life.

I love the host.
And anything is better than that Godforsaken Twilight

The Host and the Twilight's saga are two books very different..but I love both books.
I can't even seem to be able to compare the two books. They are really different and don't really have anything in comman. But I loved the Host, the Twilight saga was only a simple read for me - and I have to say the movies were alot better than the books in my opinion. But for the Host the movie wasn't even able to reach my high exectations, and since I loved the book so much it was really hard for me to be pleased (that doesn't mean the movie was good though). If it weren't for the fact that I knew the Twilight saga and the Host were written by the same person, I would of had a hard time believing whomever told me. But overall, the Host trumps the twilight saga anyday :D
hmmm... that's a hard choice. I liked both the books. I only liked the first two books of twilight though so I am going for the host. I like the characters better in the book and the movie
They are both garbage. I'm not sure why I read on after Twilight, but I read every book she wrote, and I wish I could get those hours of my life back.
After reading The Host (many years after Twilight; I was very reluctant) I hate to say that it's much better.
The Host, of course. I felt the feeling of dying from an inch from it. In comparison, twilight saga is just a random series of romantic novels, nothing special to mention.
There is a lot of confusion how they're similar, but they're utterly different. It solely is accused of being 'similar' on account of, as in twilight there is conflict between two lovers Jared and Ian...Jacob/Edward

The thing between Jared and Ian was resolved at the end... it look four books for the Edward Jacob thing to resolve. And these two are the same how?

Hands down The Host so far. Now that I find out it's actually a "Trilogy" we'll see how it goes. I think what she'll do is introduce some unnecessary and uninteresting conflict in that world just so she can keep the same characters that "we already love" and in doing so she'll maintain her overly perfect love triangles and such and it will functionally ruin the "franchise". I think it has the potential to be worse than Twilight based on that alone.
As bad as Twilight is at least there was a plan. It was a stupid plan and the road to get there was boring, repetitive and filled with emotional deficit but at least there was a plan (even if the end of the road was a terrible prize).
I don't believe there's such a plan with The Host. I don't mind that there are series stories and stand-alone stories but I HATE when stand-alone stories get expanded into series like with The 4400 (mini-series into full series).

Twilight series = paranormal. The Host = SyFy
I loved The Host and look forward to the movie.

The Host all the way! Stephenie Meyers totally impressed me with this book. I liked the Twighlight series, but The Host was so much better. Better plot, romance, action...i now consider Stephanie Meyers one of my favorite author's just because of this book. I have a question for you guys Bella and Robert, or Wanda and Ian.
I much prefer the Host to the Twilight Saga, mainly because I think both Mel and Wanda are a lot less mope-y/whine-y than Bella. It is more post-apoc too which I prefer to paranormal, in general.

I am only half way through The Host and read all the Twilight series. They are so different, I don't feel I could compare them or rate them. The Host is a new reading experience for me, and I find it interesting and facinating.
Definitely THE HOST! It was soo much better than twilight.
Absolutely loved Twilight. But THE HOST stayed with me for such along time after I finished reading it. I so wanted it to be made into a movie and can't say how glad I am that it has been ;-)
