Angelica Thompson If so what do you think she would incorporate in the sequel? would it be better then the first one? would you read it? and if not why? do you think one novel's enough? for me personally I would love to read a sequel about the remaining humans rising up together to take earth back or perhaps even the possibility of humans and souls living together on earth. what do you think?

Coralie Personally I don't need a sequel. If there was one?.....Yes I would read it.
It would be interesting to have the different groups of humans find one another. It would be a hoot to have Jeb perform a marriage ceremony (with or without the shotgun! lol) Maybe a cave birth? Finding out where Kyle's relationship with Sunny goes...
Think I'd rather have it end with the sharing the Earth scenario, if all the soul's left then Wanda would have to leave Ian behind!

Gabby i always love to know what happens next!

Michael Stephanie Meyer hinted that she may or may not create a sequel.

The Soul and The Seeker

Ange I do not think there should be a sequel. It ended with no loose ends and another book would probably just be repetitious. But if there were a sequel, I'd read it.

Reksana i would to knw wat happens next.....

Tabitha Paschalis I think there is potential for a sequel, but I'd just be worried they would ruin it a little bit.

Of course the planet is still riddled with the fact that both humans and souls inhabit it, and the conflict between the two. And I would like to see what happens, do the souls and humans live in harmony together?

However I would be a little scared that it would be ruined. Most parts, such as the relationships were tied up. And I don't want things to come in the way of that.

Janette Lopez If it was done good then I would love to see a sequel. I like how they meet more humans and even another one like Wanda! I think there is potential for a new book, with that said it would need to be done right.

Laura I would read a sequel if there was one, but I don't think there needs to be. Not everything needs to be turned into a series and I think that this book stands really well on it's own. I love this book so much; I'm afraid that a sequel would ruin it.

Jamie I would totally read the sequel if there was one, but there is no cliff hanger to create one of Wanda's story so i would prefer a whole new set of characters.

Heidi I thought she was writing more.

Jamie Its not on her website, so until i have writen comformation, i wont get my hopes up and think she is.

sushmitha I'm really hoping for a sequel. More of Ian/Wanda,the new band of humans and shipping more souls off to their home planet, maybe! But there aren't many loose ends so Meyer will have to create a gripping plot too.I don't care how long she takes to bring out the sequels, as long as she does!

Well said she ended it pretty well so there arent any loose ends or any important unfinished problems so if there is a sequel its gonna have to be really good and id probably read it

Espero que haya una secuela, yo ya estoy esperando! =)

Olivia Quinn ITS NOW OFFICIAL! THE HOST IS GOING TO BE A TRILOGY!

Elise hell yes there should be a sequel!! this is one of my all time favorite books and i'm super excited for the movie! hopefully, everyone who has read the book and/or seen the movie will help push Meyer to write the next book ASAP!

Dee NO. I am sorry but stand-alone novels are rare, one of the things that I loved about the host was that it was just an novel. She included all the detail needed in that one book. And the end was open, yes, but is there really a need for another book? No book will ever have a completely closed end and a sequel is bound to be a lot worse and would probably feel forced.

message 19: by Tova (new) - rated it 5 stars

Tova I think a sequel would have to be better than the first one! Yes I would love one but I'm completely satisfied without it. I'm over all the sagas and trilogies and whatnot. Yet I still read them...how's that for complicated...

message 20: by Dee (new) - rated it 3 stars

Dee There are far too many sagas and trilogies. The last stand alone that I read was Wonder, and that was july 2012. Seriously, why do authors feel the need to make series, three 200 page books could easily turn into one 500 page book, and I bet you it would be better.

Jocelyn Stephanie Meyers ended this book with a perfect cliffhanger. You were'nt left confused or upset that she ended it that way, but you were left with an open mind. So,no. I don't think there needs to be a sequel, but if she does decide to write one i will definately read it.

Aliyah The Host can stand alone but I really want a sequel. I can't wait for the movie to come out!!!

Jordan It's being turned into a trilogy. I found it online somewhere... anyway I am excited because I loved the book, but not the ending, so I am hoping it goes my way in the next one.

Angelica Thompson Interesting points of view people I love how the conversation is turning and I can honestly say I see it from both sides. The great thing about this book is it can stand alone and the fact is there really doesn't need to be a sequel but would I read the sequel absolutely! This book dragged me in and I I would love to experience this world again. It's been a while since I've read something that really got my attention like this one!

que se supone que sera una trilogia. Estoy muy emocionado ahora :)

Christa Although, I thought the book was okay slash good, I wouldn't read the sequel. Honestly, I don't want to know about Wanda and what happens to her. I'm sated just knowing she's out of Melanie's body and helping the humans

Cristina I think it was such an amazing book, and it doesn't need a trilogy, it can easily stand alone, and the ending was amazing, but I would personally love another book, because I just didn't want the host to end, and I would love to go and live on that story world some more

Rachel Coralie wrote: "Personally I don't need a sequel. If there was one?.....Yes I would read it.

I agree with Coralie, it doesn't need a sequel, but if there was one, I'd read it.

Jessa I feel like I'm getting tired of all the trilogies. It's okay to write a book that just stands alone, I don't think it needs a sequel. Sometimes it's nice to just read a book and be done.

Crissi I don't need a sequel. I am OK with a story ending. Sometimes I get tired of all the trilogies that are out there. I want to start something new.

C.D. Hussey A series can be a set of books in one world with or without the same characters, it doesn't have to be a sequel. I like stand-alone books in a series. I'd love to see more of this "world" but definitely not more of the cave.

Marcelina :) No......just no. I mean, what would the sequel be about? I think its good the way it is.

Bayley I think the ending for Melanie was a good one, but a sequel would be cool- maybe for a different set of characters though?

Victoria I don't think there needs to be a sequel (from what I remember back when I originally read The Host). It would best be left as it is. If there were to be a sequel, it should be with a different set of characters as already stated above. But then if it was with a different set of characters, I'm not so sure it'd be considered a "sequel" to the Host.

Angelica Thompson Victoria wrote: "I don't think there needs to be a sequel (from what I remember back when I originally read The Host). It would best be left as it is. If there were to be a sequel, it should be with a different set..."
it would be more like a campanion novel to the host

Vicky Fioravante Yes

VIVI GARCIA I think there is sequel just to point out. If there is for sure a sequel I really want to read them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

message 38: by Tina (new) - rated it 5 stars

Tina I loved this book and was happy how it ended, it could have ended there but I am looking forward to sequels which will go into even more depth of each character, the new ones which enter the story and also seeing more of Wanda and Ian's relationship now she is in a different body. Looking forward to it.

Brittany Perry I want to see wanda have a baby with her true love. And of course Melanie have a baby as well. The sharing the world thing would be good. I think that was where it was headed anyway. You know with that alien couple who kept their biological son. I think It would be nice to see the new generation. so I vote FOR a sequel.

message 40: by Eni (new) - rated it 4 stars

Eni I like, of course. I hope one, because the ending was so open. Like wow, they are just ONE group of humans, are more!... is possible a revolution, a war?
souls are become friends with humans too, is like the beginning to something cool. I hope a sequel

Aishaisnotonfire........Fours*crazed*Lover i really like the fact that it's a single book, i haven't read a lot of them lately but if there was a sequel i would definitely read it!
