Sara | 1500 comments This is the thread where you can come to discuss Warm Bodies (Warm Bodies, #1) by Isaac Marion which was the second place winner in the poll for February's BOTM. This thread may contain spoilers:)

Camille (gongtsaa) I'm now on the part where R pretends to be human.

Hey, I tried clicking on your link and it doesn't work? Could you fix it? I'd love to read your review!

♥ Sarah (wispsoflight) I was absolutely blown away by this book! I didn't expect it to be so lyrical and poetic; the prose really impressed me! And it wasn't as gloomy and gory as I thought it would be :)

But I was surprised to discover that there's going to be a sequel! It was just fine as a standalone... What do you guys think? Do you guys prefer a sequel or no?

Greta (goodreadsgreta) | 154 comments Woops...I guess I mis-typed it! My review is at http://www.fictionsnoop.com

I would love for you to read it! Thanks :)

Sara | 1500 comments I hear mixed things about this between boys and girls reviews. Not sure if I want to buy it, and the library doesn't have it on ebook.

Greta (goodreadsgreta) | 154 comments Really, what do boys say? I'm guessing they're all about the gruesome stuff?

I found it mostly a quirky, philosophical read about life and death.

Sara | 1500 comments I haven't read that many, but the boys seemed to love it and the girls were mixed. That is only a couple opinions. I am going to keep checking the library unless I buy it for my son that is almost 14. He would probably love it. I think the movie looks hilarious from the previews:)

Greta (goodreadsgreta) | 154 comments Novel loved it, too. It has moments of humor, but it's also pretty thought provoking. Yes, I can see a 14 year old boy liking it a lot.

Sara | 1500 comments I may have to see if he is interested and then we both can read it:) I am just not sure about these zombies.

♥ Sarah (wispsoflight) Thanks for the link, Greta! I actually really enjoyed your review on this one. I have to agree, the book is totally meta. But that's why I personally loved it; because it's so much more than just a simple zombie apocalypse. And, it's interesting b/c it's told in the POV of the Dead. Not the Living. So in essence, the Dead is then humanized; I couldn't help sympathizing with his character, and rooting for a HEA.

And I think, although the romance aspect seems secondary, quirky, and not all that romantic, the message behind what love can do was powerful and it resonated with me deeply. :)

Sara, I can see why there would be mixed feelings about this one. But honestly, I think you should give this one a try before watching the film!! :-P

Sandee is Reading (sandeeisreading) I haven't read this yet. :p
But my friend Jianne recommended it to me a while back.
For those who read it, how was it??

Gisbelle I didn't like this book :( Just like Twilight, this book has changed what we normally think zombies should be. Zombies fall in love. Zombies talk. Just like Twilight, vampires glitter!

Yeah, but you gotta think of the whole zombie thing as a metaphor! How can you compare this book with crap like Twilight?! NOOOOO lol. It was completely different! Plus, the prose alone, read like poetry. Definitely incomparable to Twilight.... =(

Did you not like the story b/c it was just "unrealistic" ??

Gisbelle Yes, something like that Sarah. I liked it a lot at first. The humor and everything. Then when R fell in love, it started to get on my nerve. How Julie reacted after she knew R killed what-him-name (her boyfriend) and she seemed ok with him. And I found the whole kissing the zombie thing a bit yucky!

Sorry that I compared the book to Twilight. Actually, you are right. It is better than Twilight.

Beatrice (beatricemasalunga) I'm still deciding if I will get an ebook or a paperback. LOL :))

Based on the movie trailer, it's nice to see a zombie got cured because of romance or somewhat good feelings towards humans. Not a typical zombie movie I've seen like Resident Evil, Dawn of the Dead etc..

Beatrice (beatricemasalunga) I am still reading it. So far it's good. The movie is a bit different... but I like it. Entertaining indeed.
