Hard Fantasy is definitely the ascendant subgenre. "Duck Blood Soup" sounds like a Marx brothers take-off; was that the inspiration?
Sorry, no. It's a "muskets and magic" fantasy and Duck Blood Soup is an actual dish mentioned in the book. Some people comment that they thought the title was unusual but they understand once they've read the book. One day I may write something about my use of food in Duck Blood Soup
