Been such a cold winter in NYC, so I loved th fact that ASF was set in the hot climates of Dubai and Cape Town. This certainly is a book where the author with her affirnity for place will transport you to another world. Not only will your mind be taken on a journey to physical places, but your soul will go on a journey too, as the book's theme is that age old battle between fate and freewill. The guiding theme is wrapped up in a psychological thriller which thinks out the box, never mimmicks and always surprises. The author takes us on leisurely tours of the City State's night spots and its haute cuisine; we rub shoulders with the beautiful and rich but we never travel far from that naqging question of destiny and the price you have to pay to change it. The work builds up to a tense and truly novel conclusion. All in all a cracking debut with some very good stuff going on in there.
I highly recommend it:)
A Sealed Fate

Actually I read and quite enjoyed Old Magic. I actually liked the modern day portions more than the "time travel" parts but still, it was a fun story.

Some say crazy... some say lazy! I usually have about 13 going at once. But then I'm retired so I can read more than most. I usually have one or more of my past favorites in some stage of re-reading, a couple of books of poetry and short stories going (These make great reads for the executive reading room - you know the one with a roll of paper mounted to the wall) and several others so I've always got something in progress for whatever genre I'm in the mood for.

I am reading The Last Apprentice series. Im on book six great read. This series is totally different then what i normally read.

Today I read this book

Tomorrow I plan on reading

How is it, Jeff? I'm a huge fan of John Hart. I've read [bookcover:Down R..."
I have The Last Child on my bookshelf. I haven't read any of his books yet. Do u think I'll like it ?

How are you liking the Tea Rose? The second book is even better... I still need to read the last one :)

Didn't like it that much, am currently also reading Walden, about 70% through it now.

A white Wind Blew by James Markert"
It is really getting wonderfully good!!!

I know there is never enough time to read as much as I want to..

I simply love it when characters live on and on...

However, I see many who are fans of the author John Hart. I must have read these reviewers a few months ago because I tried to read The King of Lies and did not find it enjoyable at all. I'm not trying to pick a fight. I'll just respectfully disagree and say that the book was not for me.
My current book is a good one but written many years ago by the great Leon Uris QB VII. Very good but takes an investment to get through the first half. I find that true, though, with most books.

I'm finishing off The god delusion, then onto The adventures of Sherlock Holmes, which I want to read before the end of the month :)

I know the feeling... I have two I need for college and I didn't get to choose them... so its a force thing but I did get one finished and waiting on the title from the teacher...

Hi Lori... I guess that is why there are so many different writers out there.. its like pie, everyone loves their favorite and then some people prefer cake over pie. I do love this site and learning about books I might not ever have branched out and read. Like in college I had to read a book assigned to me.. It won an award and I didn't care for it.. it wasn't that good and didn't speak to me personally.
did you use the search button at the top of the main page and put in titles you have read and loved?
Personally I like it when we all do not agree, makes the discussion even better

I know the feeling... I got stuck on a book for college.. It took me two weeks to read it ... "Acck" I usually read a book in a couple of days if not the day of... but oh well there are few of the boring ones, usually I hit the mark in choosing books I will enjoy.

Oh, I definitely agree. I was a member of an in person book club before I moved to Ohio. One of the books that we read was
The Kite Runner which was not what I considered my type of book. I ended up loving that book and consider it a favorite. Sometimes we don't realize when we finish a book how much the story will end up staying with us. That book has resonated over the years.

I know I have had a few that touch me that way...

I'm also reading Scarlet :)"
That's great Jon! I'd love to have a chat with you about the series when we're both done!
