Introductions
Hi everyone, I'm Melody. I'm an avid reader and writer. I joined Goodreads awhile back but have only really gotten involved with the site in the last month. I've been going through the various groups looking for a group I thought I'd enjoy and here I am.
Hi and welcome to all the new people here :) I'm going to pop off to bed soon but thought I'd poke my head in before doing so :) Have a great day/evening everyone.
Jack wrote: "Hi Dan, welcome to the group."Hey, Jack. I still don't get how this group works. Can I promote another group here? I created a group on goodreads and we are looking to recrute new members.
Hi Dan, you can advertise your group in the Spread The Word topic in the folder of the same name. If you have any more questions just ask.
Hello, my name is Whisper. I am new to this group but have always loved reading. My friend told me about this site. I volunteer at the city library and do story time for children. I also read with adults to help them improve or learn to read. I won my first book here on goodreads last night and am so excited.Whisper
About Me: Hi I'm Bri (pronounced like the cheese). I'm a North Carolina (US) native. I'm an artsy kinda gal with varying tastes in music and lit. I also married a slam poet so Slammed is definitely on my "To-Read" shelf.
Likes/Dislikes:
I like curling up in my papasan with a book and a tea. Anything crafty or DIY. Comics and video games, yes I'm a geek too. I dislike authors that start strong enough to get you hooked but show little to no growth in their writing over time.
Book Stuff:
It's hard to pick a favorite book when I love them all for different reasons but some of my fiction favs are Little Bee, 32 Candles, and Their Eyes Were Watching God. I'm not as well read in Non-Fiction but a fav is The Monster of Florence. I'll read just about anything but supernatural fiction is my guilty pleasure. My book goal this year is to read more classics.
Nice to meet you, Bri! Like you, I am also trying to read more classic literature. You should check out the group Classics Without All The Class; our March read will be The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.
Welcome Abbey. I've read the book of Goodnight Mister Tom and thought it was great. I'm sorry to hear about your illnesses, that's no problem at all. :-)

I like to read YA books and I am currently reading Abdution and Dark Insides
Everett, I MUST commend you on your awesome avatar. I cried when MCA passed away last year and played A Year and a Day on a loop as a humble tribute to a great musician, film director, and humanitarian.
haha nice Marie. His passing was sad, Im actually glad SOMEONE payed tribute to him on the Grammys. I really hope MCA Day is yearly in Brooklyn. I want to go so bad...
He was also in the In Memoriam slideshow at the Oscars. Beastie Boys are legendary, seriously. It breaks my heart that they probably won't make new music anymore, but at least they continue to be relevant. Now I think I will listen to Paul's Boutique on the drive home :)
I have 128 songs by the Boys, Paul's Boutique is one of my favorites. second to Ill Communication that is :) I hope MMM, Adam, and Mike D go on to still make instrumental... It would seem weird in vocals without the creator of the band
I've listened to their instrumental album at work before and people were blown away when I tell them who it is.
All this talk caused me to spend some time on YouTube watching their videos, starting with the classic Sabotage.
I have the Sabotage T-Shirt with them wearing their mustaches and wigs. I had a mustasche like Mike D's in the video. Its kinda weird that they didnt feature MMM in any of their videos... lemme guess, your going to Intergalactic next...
LOL no, I went to Sure Shot...fish eye lens is so 90s!Did you ever watch this featurette/skit they did with Sofia Coppola while they were in their Sabotage costumes? It's called Ciao L.A.
Jack wrote: "Please introduce yourself to the group!Hi Jack, my name is Glenda and I live in Shreveport, LA. I read a variety of genres and will try almost anything except for romance, anything with a vampire in it and westerns.
My favorite movies tend to be historical, dramas, mysteries, mobster movies. Hardly ever a comedy, with a few exceptions of course.
Music I love. Love classic rock from the 70's and some of the new music by country artists.
You've done a great job of setting this group up. I predict you will have much success with it.
And thank you Dustin for inviting me. I've sent an invite to all my friends as well.
Hello I'm Therissa and I'm from NY. As for favorite books, I will read just about anything but I am huge Bradbury, Tolkien and Lewis fan. As for music, I love rock and classical but I will give any kind of music a chance. Besides reading I love to write and pretending that I know how to draw
Your name (or what you'd like everyone to call you): I'm Athena. :) Where you're from: the states. :P
Your likes/dislikes: I like reading, writing, cars, dogs, school, talking to adults... Singing. I don't like lots of things. Lol.
Your favourite books/movies/songs: don't have favorites when it comes to books. Favorite movie is......... Phantom of the opera for musical, Deep Impact for astroid killing earth. Warm bodies for zombies on earth. Beauty and the beast for Disney. And there's others that I can't name atm. One my own, and A little Fall of Rain for songs.
And any other interesting facts about yourself! :-) I'm a published author, and am working on another one now. It's going to be a historical fiction. :) ummmm.... I love cats and dogs but I'm allergic to both. I prefer talking to adults than kids my age.
Hi, I'm Lucy from NJ in the U.S. I love to read, and my taste in books is very eclectic. I'll read just about anything as long as it holds my interest.
Hello and welcome to everyone who's just joined. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all. :-)
