Sounds a lot like an episode of the T.V. show Murder, She Wrote. Try searching under the name Jessica Fletcher (that's the name of the mystery writer character in the T.V. show).
Is it part of the Vicki Bliss novels by Elizabeth Peters? The last two of that series take place in Egypt. I vaguely remember the Director of Cairo museum was suspected of being killed in one of them.
Leslie, Emily, thanks a lot! i'll check both versions! But most probably it is Elizabeth Peters, because i first read her book approximately at the same time, yesterday I looked through descriptions of Vicky Bliss books, but thought it wasn't it, should look more carefully
The thing is I don't remember if the Director actually got killed. I think it was suspected he was killed because he disappeared. Not really sure now what happened.

Thank you)I hope so! I searched through web for two days, but couldn't find anything, i suspected it could be Elizabeth Peters, but couldn't find matches in book's descriptions, ☯Emily gave me new hope;) if not, Leslie's version could be right, just need time to check it out^^

Boy, do I know the time factor.
Yesterday I understood that i painly want to find the book I've read 6-7 years ago. I don't remebmer anything but several facts: it must be quite similar to Elizabeth Peters book, about 2 females ( or maybe one, but something tells to me there was 2) who travels to Egypt, investigating something, they had to see the Director of Cairo museum, and they ware told that he'd been killed. There also was something about the hotel they stayed in and egyptian they visited.
I know that maybe it's not enough for identifying, but i really want to find this book, and Im very grateful for any help!^.^
