The Host
question

I think I might just to see how well they stay with the book, but what do you think? will they totally butcher the book or will it be a surprisingly good movie?

Read the book shortly after it came out, thought it was brilliant, couldn't put it down. Will definitely go see the movie.
I read the book specifically because the movie was coming out. I'm not crazy about the main cast so far, although Jared looks like I imagined. Both Ian and the Seeker are supposed to have black hair, and while the Seeker is neither here nor there, it would be nice if Ian looked a little more as described. Melanie also looks too young to me too. Stephanie didn't focus much on appearances in this book though, so I guess it's pretty much open to interpretation.
As long as they stick to the main points of the book, I don't mind if they shake things up a bit. The concept is too good with too much potential. I really enjoyed the book, but there is so much more that could have been done with it. I'm excited to see what they come up with.

im gonna see it i love the book it's the best book by stephine meyer. i just really hope the movie doesn't disappoint
SOOOOOO Psyched for the movie!!! I'm actually going to go see the midnight premiere!!!!
Definitely hoping to see the movie though hope the storyline stays true to the book. The trailer looks interesting though most of the scenes I sensed were from the Melanie side as they seemed more action based such as running away from the 'bad guys'. Also hoping that the film will pick up the pace a bit quicker but they havent overextended action scenes that take away from the character relationships!
I don't really remember what happens since I read it awhile book. All I remember is it being kind of strange but interesting. I probably won't see the movie in theaters.
Based on the previews I've seen...they're focusing on Melanie and Jared's love story when the book's focus was on Wanda, her journey, and her discovery of humanity, love, etc. I'm seriously scared it's going to end up like Twilight, with Team Guy#1 vs. Team Guy#2 *throws up a little*.
If they blow my mind by following the book, I'll be surprised and THRILLED, but I doubt it. :(
Casting-wise:
*I didn't like who they cast in Ian and Kyle's roles. I *thought* they were BIG guys and these actors look kind of scrawny.
*Melanie/Wanda's character is fine (except when I read the book, I pictured the female lead from 1980's version of Total Recall, brunette & tanned).
*LOVE Diane Kruger for the Seeker; she's going to rock it.
*Max Irons for Jared is good; he's about what I pictured while reading.

I've read this book at least three times! The first time I read it, I almost gave up in the beginning, but by the end, I wanted to read it again! I can't wait till the movie comes out, I just hope they stick to the story.

I am only half way through the book. I find it facinating but sometimes I get confused and lost. I don't usually read books about aliens, time shifting, that sort of thing. I would like to see the movie to maybe put this all together infront of me.
I don't know if I'll see it in the theater, I don't go out to the movies much anymore. I'll definitely rent it. I think I need to re-read it.
I'll go see the movie depending on who they cast. Some actors just annoy me and I can't get past that! :P I loved the book though, great ideas.
