I read Dreaming of You and didn't like it so didn't pick up another one. Are her other books supposed to be better?

It's definitely worth trying another book by her, Kryptonite. If you want a contemporary series, the Travis series is great. The first book is more chick-lit-like, but still great. The second two books are more romance feeling.
Sugar Daddy
Smooth Talking Stranger
Blue-Eyed Devil
I think most people enjoy the Wallflowers series when they read them. They are also worth trying.
Again the Magic is like a prequel. It's quite angsty, but good.
You could also start with Secrets of a Summer Night.

I love Sebastian St. Vincent more than any of Kleypas' heroes! Sometimes we just have to agree to disagree.

Lady Danielle aka The Book Huntress wrote: "I hope the next LK works better for you."Started reading Smooth Talking Stranger last night and had already finished 15 chapters before going to sleep. It was a little hard to continue reading in the beginning. I think that's because the writing style isn't my preference. But I did get into it eventually. I'm glad I forced myself to keep reading. I like the plot and the main characters. The hero is great. And I'm willing to pick up another LK book after this one.
Well, I flew through Wallflowers #2 and loved Lillian and Marcus's story. I'm now reading Sebastian and Evie's story.Thank you all so much for recommending Lisa Kleypas, she is now one of my favorite authors. Her writing style and pace is perfect for me and most importantly she makes me emotionally invest in her characters. For me, this is the true mark of a fantastic book and a great author.
Me too, Cherrie!
@Kryptonite, the Travis books are written in an atypical style for a romance. I think LK was flirting with chick-lit for that series. She's an experimental author, and I think she was trying something different. I'm glad you were able to enjoy STS despite the writing style. My favorite from that series is Blue-Eyed Devil. I love Hardy Cates!!!

I can try that next. I did start reading Again the Magic but I couldn't get myself to continue after a few chapters. So it's on pause for now.
Two of my favorite LK's were Dreaming of You and Again the Magic...but I tend to like the darker HRs. I think she tends to just write some really emotional reads to begin with though. Even her Wallflowers series and Hathaways series were pretty intense, imo.
I generally like darker HR as well. I loved Dreaming of You too. I don't know, but Again the Magic was too traumatic for me.
LK is an intense writer across the board, but Again the Magic stands out to me as her most angsty. Where Dreams Begin and Suddenly You are other ones that many like that are not my favorite by LK.
I'm an emotional reader, so books get me in my heart. Sometimes it's too much, I guess.

Lady D, have you read Judith Mcnaught's Westmoreland series? To me, she is one of the most amazing authors. A little dark, very emotional. I think she gets overlooked a lot.
I read most of McNaught's historicals back in the day. She's definitely about the angst, for sure!
Kryptonite wrote: "I read Perfect by her and thought it was great."I haven't read that one yet. Have you guys read any of her contemporaries? Or are they considered Romantic suspense?
I haven't read any of her contemporaries. She has some older contemporaries that are straight romance. I think she started writing RS after a while.
I'll have to give it a shot then, thanks ladies. Sorry to barge in here. I saw Kleypas pop up on my feed and my nose started twitching :)

You're not barging at all. We need some chatting. Things are kinda quiet around here!
I love talking about LK, anyway!

I'm looking for an awesome bad-boy hero of Mexican heritage. I'm not really into paranormal/werewolf/vampire heroes. I've already read KA's Rock Chick series with Eddy and Hector Chavez. Any recommendations?
How about Linda Howard's
? Howard is one of my favorite authors...Diaz is the hero...he's a total bad boy, the sexual tension is crazy, but it's quite the tearjerker, too! One of my favorite books/heroes.
