A Noble Place By Anne Brear is a good one to read for this challenge. Also Beyond Innocence by Joanna Lloyd. These both take place in Australia but I was unable to find book/author on this site. Hmmm.

A NOBLE PLACE and BEYOND INNOCENCE are both on our bookshelf Gaile. We reviewed them at our blog.

I meant book/author at the top of the box doesn't seem to be working for the titles I want to recommend for our group to read. Do you mean the title shouldn't already be shelved?
The Noble Satyr by Lucinda Brant is on your bookshelf. It is also an award winning novel.

I also nominate The Fifth Knight by EM Powell...it revolves around the murder of Thomas Becket. It fits the new to the reader category (she's a new author), and possibly the indie published one (Fifth Knight was published by Amazon's Thomas & Mercer imprint...does that count as indie?). At any rate, it was a great book, and well worth the price.

One-

Two-

I have looked up the book by Sarah Lark but the English version seems to only come as an audio book. All the books I found by her are not written in English. Did you read it in English or listen to it?

One-
by Sarah Lark, I left a review for this one. If you want to a little bit about it
Two-..." Never mind. I found a paperback copy at Barnes &Nobel!

The Kindle edition was a translation, I don't know if you would be able to find one for the Nook

Have you read any of Alfred Silver's historicals? Great on Canadian history!

Beyond the Shining Mountains by Doris Shannon. OOP, but shouldn't be too hard to track down, libraries seem to have copies.

I need a Canada-set title, so I'll have a look at that one; thanks, Misfit!

In addition to the list Misfit provided, here are a few more: (coming from a Canadian)
Deafening by Frances ItaniDeafeningA story of a deaf woman in Ontario and her time with a soldier. Quite beautiful.
The Winter Vault by Anne Michaels
The Winter VaultIt opens in 1964 (not sure if that makes it historical enough)and is a literary romance of loss and reconciliation. Written by a poet, it's quite lyrical.
If romance isn't necessary and you're just wanting a book about a patch of Canada and its people, I recommend Donna Morrissey's books. From Newfoundland, she writes about The Rock like nobody's business and tells crackling complex tales to boot. Donna Morrissey
And, if it's just historical you want, there's a couple by Timothy Findley (deceased): Not Wanted on the Voage (a retelling of Noah and the ark) and The Wars. Not Wanted on the VoyageWars
-Moira
I have another recommendation for the shelve although it does take place in England. To me, it was a five star read! A novel within a novel, this one is not not one for the birds!

I recommend Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley. It is a great novel set in Scotland and addresses the concept of genetic memory. I also enjoyed The American Heiress by Daisy Goodwin. My new book, Redesigning Emma, is set in Manhattan at the turn-of- the- last century. A Manhattan milliner determined to take the fashion world by storm stumbles into the middle of the newsboy strike.

Me too, love the book, just finished reading it too. I am making another recommendation
Chelynne, set in the time of King Charles 2 also in England. It not the typical regency romance, and I found I liked it

I would highly recommend "Burden of Desire" by Robert MacNeil. http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/93...
I read it years ago, but still remember passages from it. It would qualify as Canadian and WWI setting.

It's set in the UK, in a lesser-used period of history, the 1850s and takes a brief look at some of the events of the Crimean War, particularly the Charge of the Light Brigade.

That sounds good. Library has it. Another good one on the Crimean War (including a main character smack in the middle of The Charge of the Light Brigade) is Scarlet Shadows by Emma Drummond.

Thanks for the rec - am adding it.
Here's one that takes place in Austria
This one is already on the RHFL's list
I am also adding an Amish romance.
There are many more Amish romances out there but they all take place in the U.S!!!!
