display avg. ratings

Hi, I can't seem to find any information on only displaying the avg. ratings (mini-ratings?) for any given ISBN. Can someone share a snippet or point me in the right direction?

Whats the use case?

We wish to display the average ratings (stars) for any book right below it's image with a hyperlink to the complete reviews listings, much like the example given in the reviews widget. What I am looking for is less, since screen real-estate is at a premium for our new site.
