I sometimes get very confused about O'Brien- One moment she's tripping Mr Bates, plotting plans or calling Cora an ungrateful cow, the next, she's devastated when Cora miscarries(she put that soap there!) or sh's protective about Mr Lang(the valet with the shellshock).
So what do you think? Evil or not?

MaryannC Victorian Dreamer | 89 comments She's evil, but I kind of love her character.

Carolyn Wilhelm (wilhcarm) not evil but certainly not happy

Judy | 20 comments I think she's mostly evil and unhappy - If I had her hairdo I would be, too. (Hated her Elsie the Cow bangs in Season 1 and 2). Sometimes I feel she regrets some of her evil deeds though, so maybe there is hope for her yet...

I think she has a heart underneath all that evil, but her nastiness adds to the show.

After all, there have to be negative characters!

Totally agree!

I don't think of her as evil but I do think she's a sad individual.

Judy | 20 comments I enjoyed seeing O'Brien squirm when Bates let her know he knew her dark secret. Feeling sympathy for Thomas because of O'Brien's evil and constant manipulations.

Oh yeah, the magic word "soap". I cracked up at that so much!

I did too! I'm wondering if Mrs. Bates begins to investigate...

Judy | 20 comments Mrs. O'Brien and Lady Susan's maid - separated at birth? (Thought those two would become fast friends and pen pals, they were so much alike!)

I heard she's leaving Downton. What do you think about that?

message 14: by Dianne (new)

Dianne I am going to miss her evil ways
I am wondering if they will address the whole soap ont the floor thing.

Lucky (luckybluestar) The only time I ever even remotely liked O'Brien was when she befriended Mr. Lang at the beginning of S2. I'd like to see the soap incident addressed, also. (Like how the heck Thomas found out about it.)

O'Brien is one of those villains I love to hate, so I'll miss her character in that respect.
