Daphne Sellers (alianna) | 17 comments I remember that it was about a man and he gets a letter from his brother that tells him something about a lab project that he is working on but before he can read the letter something goes wrong and everything within some range of the lab died, so his brother goes to the city where the lab is and in the morning he goes to see the lab seeing as whatever happened stopped and he finds a creature that his brother created and it looked something like a slug or something similar they are then captured by the government or something like that, the creature escapes and runs into an escaped Mexican convict I don't remember why he was in jail (view spoiler)

Cheryl (cherylllr) Better to leave a month or two between bumps - usually old threads are solved when 1) someone new joins the group and looks through old threads or 2) someone reads a book and remembers a thread. As of now, over 50 people have looked here and tried to solve your book.

About how old do you think the book might be?
Is it for adults, or teens?

Daphne Sellers (alianna) | 17 comments It is for adults and it is very old.

Cheryl (cherylllr) Sorry, 'Very old' means something different to you, at age 22, than to me, at age 50. Do you think it was written before 1950, for example?

Daphne Sellers (alianna) | 17 comments I think that it was written between 1970 and 1980 maybe.

Daphne Sellers (alianna) | 17 comments Bump.

Cheryl (cherylllr) I'm glad you're keeping an eye on this thread. Do you think this book would be marketed a 'horror' or 'science fiction' or something else?

Daphne Sellers (alianna) | 17 comments Yes I think it was Science Fiction.

Tab (tabbrown) | 5084 comments Sounds like Firechild Firechild by Jack Williamson

another descrip:
Following up on a mysterious message, Dr. Saxton Belcraft is on his way to visit his estranged whiz-kid biologist brother Vic, when he's stopped by the police: the town where Vic's genetic-engineering lab is located is cut off--a deadly plague, which reduces all living and once-living matter to gray ash, is loose. Soon, though, the plague apparently expires. Belcraft, evading the patrols, investigates, and comes upon a bizarre worm-like creature in the ruins of Vic's lab;(view spoiler)

Daphne Sellers (alianna) | 17 comments Yes Tab that is it. I am so glad that someone found the name. :D
