Nice scenario concerning Doctor Nash, I have to admit that I found myself not trusting anyone in this book! One question, why didn't Claire fill Christine in on the truth about her son?

I couldn't agree more. The ending of the book was a huge let down.
I liked the ending the way the author wrote it.

She took Christine's word for what Ben had told her happened.

I think that would have definitely been a better ending. I feel like Dr. Nash just went forgotten.
No I actually loved the ending, it was perfect.

I also dislike the ending because it's too predictable, however, this book isn't really about guessing what happened as to experiencing what it's like to be not knowing.
i had during the reading few assumptions about its end and i was wrong in all of them. the end of the book was unpredictable and thrilling so i am very satisfied with it. :)
What did you think about the fact that they guy who did this to her rescued her from living in a home where her husband completely abandoned her.
Dr. Nash was coming off as a snaky, unreliable character somewhere in the middle of the story.

He was the only one that did not abandon her like the rest of her family had.
i was surprised in the end about Ben isnt the real Ben and her son was alive and i like the ending and that MIKE died
i think its a great book it attracts me. I just want to know what would happens next

I don't think that "Ben" really rescued her from anything - there she was, just sitting around all day by herself, and going through the motions. At the home there were different people to talk to every day, and in the real world they probably would have encouraged her to keep a journal. This is not a case where moving "home" was necessarily desirable.
I would of like to see what happened to Dr Nash as well. Think he just vanished. Did he get his report complete?

Yes..the ending was a bit predictable
i didn't find the ending that predictable, but the book was a great win. it was easy to find out the ben was all along the one responsible for her injury. but what i was confused about is how did her actually husband and son reach her and get to her suddenly after all those years? and why did they agree to come so easily?but over all best thriller book i've read in years now. <3
I definately think this book would have been better with a different ending. From the very begining, it seemed to me that somehow Ben was responsible for her condition. The book was predictable and full of plot holes. However, even though I was pretty sure of how the book would end, I couldn't put the book down. I was addicted to this character and the way she slowly unveiled her truth.
Nope, I felt that the book is great exactly the way it is. So I don't think that an alternative ending would make the story any better.
Really? Because I really don't understand the ending, and I couldn't find the ending predictable at all actually.
I enjoyed this book but guessed the ending about mid book. I did think while reading that a good ending would be for Dr Nash to turn out to be her son and that was why he was trying to help/cure her.
I liked the ending just the way she wrote it. I did not guess the twist mid book, as some others seem to have done. I couldn't put this book down, and loved every minute as the truth was slowly discovered.
I really liked the ending as it was. Did not expect to find out that Ben was not Ben. Ha. But no, Dr. Nash could not have been the ex-lover - Christine is old enough to be his mom, and at the time of the attack he must have been really young.
I actually liked the ending but then I'm not one to read this type of fiction on a regular basis. If you are a mystery aficionado then the ending was probably expected. I read this for a bookclub and highly enjoyed it.
I enjoyed reading the book.I had the same question- where were Adam and Ben all those years. Ben confessed that he moved away as he was told that Christine was happy at Waring house when they did not visit her but did he not think it necessary to find out how she was doing there. that seemed a bit strange to me.

Would it have been better if Ben had been having an affair with Claire which is why Christine thought she couldn't trust him and it was the Doctor who turned out to be the ex lover who caused her condition in the hotel room and was taking interest in her to find out how much she knew and how safe he was from prosecution for the attack?
