Carrie (icanhasbooks) | 716 comments Can I use The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test by Tom Wolfe for purple, even though it's non fiction?

Sandra | 25908 comments Yes Carrie ;)

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments CONGRATULATIONS to our winners, Femforce Five! I hope everyone enjoyed the game. I want to thank Judithe and Sandra for all they did throughout the game - color confirmations, status updates, chats and more! Y'all are the best!

I would love to hear from everyone who played. How'd you like the game? Is this something you'd like to play again in the future? If so, would you suggest any changes? If you wouldn't play again, do you have specific reasons why? Don't hold back - let us know what ya really think. ;)

ditto!

With regards to the game, it was fun. It would have been nice to have seen where everyone was on the board. More colors would have been nice, too.

message 356: by Megan L (new)

Megan L Harnett Thanks for hosting! I am glad I played but I don't know if I would play again. The thing that is hard is getting books done every week before the draw. Sometimes life gets in the way of our reading(however much we don't want it to!) and it is hard to play or let team members down if you can't finish by the end of the week! So even if I might not play next round it was fun to try! I always like to try these out at least once!

D.G. | 2752 comments How'd you like the game? Is this something you'd like to play again in the future? If so, would you suggest any changes?

I liked the game and I will play again. I liked that the teams were in control of their 'destiny' (meaning that the Captains could draw on their own) and that it was easy to find a book to read. I also liked that we all had to read the book during the week (that's one of the things I don't like about Bingo...I know it's not necessary for the win to read everything, I just don't like feeling that my efforts are 'wasted' if one of my team mebers don't read the weekly shelf.) For a team game, it was very stress free (but then, I had an awesome team.)

What I missed was the interaction with other teams. I felt that we didn't know where anybody was or how they were doing.

Thanks to the mods! I had a great time!

Carrie (icanhasbooks) | 716 comments It was a fun challenge, and I would definitely play it again. Thank you guys for hosting it. :)

I had lots of fun doing this challenge and will definately sign up again if you guys decide to do a round 2.

I agree with D.G. finding books was very stress free and it was nice that we got to pick whatever we want to read for the week and being in control of your own game was nice as well, if we could do the same thing for Bingo that would be cool.

Had A Fantastic time, Thanks for all your hard work Girls!! :)

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9661 comments I loved this game too and I would play again if it came up. Thanks for the mods for making this possible!

Each team drawing cards made the game less 'formal' than BSB since all the cards were announced around the same time. We did loose the habitual shelf shouts starting on Fridays and the friendly banter between teams.

On the other hand each team had to be more disciplined because of the weekly time limit. I admit that at times life got in the way of reading...which is not such an issue with Bingo. I can see where some readers might have a problem 'delivering' a review week after week but I think that coordinating logistics and team movements would become a real pain if the rules were to be changed. I did feel that since each team was operating autonomously...there was a little less interactions with other teams.

I would have liked to have more colors to choose from. I never thought that not having black or white as an option limiting my reading...but it did. Maybe we could include other colors or shades to the game? I don't know if it's the luck of the draw but I never read so many purple covers in a row for my part. :)

Kerstin | 862 comments I really enjoyed this game too and would play it again. Thanks to the mods!

A little more interaction between the teams would be nice and the inclusion of a few more colours/shades.

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) | 473 comments It was fun, the colors were more liberating than the shelves. I would play either game again. I liked that the books had to be read in time, it made sure no one fell behind. I did miss the team interaction on the general thread and not knowing where everyone was on the board.

Totally agree with this!

message 364: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (last edited Apr 11, 2013 05:19AM) (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Actually, if a cover had black & the required colour I gave it a pass mark. As black and white aren't actually colours, I just discounted it. But I do see what you both mean :)

message 365: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) Enjoyed the game immensely and would definitely play again. I enjoyed the flexibility and variety of choosing books and agree with the comments about everyone having to finish their book each week as well as about having more interaction between the groups.

Huge thanks to the mods for all their hard work!

Sandra | 25908 comments If anyone wants to PM me or the other Mods with your thoughts on the game, please feel free.

Good or bad is welcome. As Steph said, this was the first time for this game so there are bound to be improvements to be made.

We understand that not everyone wants to put their thoughts out on public display :)

message 367: by Rosina (new)

Rosina | 1714 comments i enjoyed but missed the team bantering
liked the time limit to read
i preferred shelf idea not color idea
didnt like that right off the bat teams got so far ahead...seemed deflating
think 4 to 6 members is a good size

thanks for all the hard work Steph, Sandra and Judithe

was there a place you could see where each team was on the board...if there was i missed finding it...so having stats update would be good

Yes, this was a little demoralizing although it turned out OK in the end. Maybe next time we could follow the numbers rather than the colors?

message 369: by Belinda (new)

Belinda | 801 comments I agree with most over people's views:

Like:
- The cover colour book choices
- Completing reading in a week
- Team size
- Way we played (drawing cards individually for each team)

Dislike:
- Teams did get far ahead quite quickly
- Would like black and white included
- Missed team banter
- Would like a gameboard view so we could visualise where each was

Sandra | 25908 comments All good feedback! Keep it coming!!!

message 371: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments Wow! I can't thank everyone enough for your feedback! Thanks, Sandra, for mentioning the option of a PM re: thoughts if you're not comfortable sharing them publicly. That's always welcome - regarding the game, the group in general, anything. We're always open to feedback from our members.

It seems like the majority liked the freedom of individual team draws, weekly RR&R requirement, and color vs. shelf book choice. And, many would like to have a spot for player chatter. We can certainly add a game chat thread for the duration of future rounds.

Regarding seeing where others were on the board ~ We did have the spreadsheet that showed where on the board each team was located each week. But, I can see how making that more clear would be helpful for players.

The fast forwards and "slides" were added mainly b/c I was sticking close to the game, Candyland. But, in future rounds, we may remove those to keep teams from having the possibility of skipping far ahead of others. The other mods and I have thought of further add'l changes that may make moving around the board easier and balanced for all teams.

If we do run the game again, we will absolutely keep your suggestions and input in mind when we revise the rules of the game.

Please keep your feedback coming! :D

Jennifer H I was wondering if you will be doing this again and if so do you have an idea when?

message 382: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Carrie (icanhasbooks) | 716 comments So no more Japan time zone waiting??

message 386: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments I presume so, but that will be one of the details to be finalised, as Judithe is still on Japan time :)
