REVIEW:

I absolutely loved this book.... What set this vampire book apart from other vampire books, is the humour in it.... Sophie, the main character is absolutely hilarious... She is relentlessly inquisitive and thinks totally crazy things, even when in the middle of serious trouble... I loved it that the author maintained this aspect till the end.

This is an easy-to-read fun book. Definitely worth reading!!!!

The story continues and it doesn't disappoint. This book made me cringe, cry, and cackle. People are found and people die. I wonder who the vigilante is? I had my pick, but after this person reacted a certain way later, I no longer am sure it's them.

I'm loving this series. Just keeps getting more intriguing. So much going on with all the characters. This story was about Wulf and Cassandra. Wolf is cursed to have everyone except those of his bloodline and his Squire's bloodline forget him within five minutes of meeting him. What a lonely life. Lots going on between the Daimons, Appollite's, Dark Hunter's and let's not forget Artemis and Appollomy.

Thoughts:

Another installment of Carpathians...this one features Zacharias...one who really seemed impossible to save! I like the "Brazilian" brothers, so it was very nice to read about the eldest finding his lifemate, though not timely enough for him to be 100% secure about it.

It had all the elements I expected from a Carpathian novel from Ms. Feehan, and I enjoyed it as always. This series is one of my cotton candy/guilty pleasures...there are lots of stories out there, but with this one, I know I'll always get a very happy, totally into each other couple, no triangles, clear-cut bad guys and so on. So, I keep eagerly buying them (though not reading them immediately all the time!). Fun read. Quick and feel-good read!

Anyone hoping for a particular color? I've got books separated into each color category. Blue is easily the most prevalent. Green the least. Trying to decide whether or not I want to start a book.....

Nici (queennici102) | 697 comments i finished To Serve and Submit by Laurie Susan Wright on 3/9 and give it three and half stars. I really liked this book and wanted to give it more stars, however I also had some problems with it. I will admit i started to read this book because I was hoping for something extra spicy, with the main character being a pleasure slave, I thought it was a can't miss. However, there really wasn't much detail to the sex scenes and what there was could have been much more erotic. I tend to read a lot of paranormal books in general, so this book having a bit of that element wasn't weird to me, however, the love interest of the main character is a Godling, or young God and I really think that that the author could have done either more with that or less. So, good read, but could have been better.
As far as color hopes, what color would you call this? Reached (Matched, #3) by Ally Condie

Review:
This was the second book in the Lunar Chronicles series and I thought it was good overall. I'm glad that Cinder escaped her prison before the Queen could execute her. I want the Queen to get her just desserts for all the stuff she has done, but there's at least two more books coming out for this series featuring Rapunzel and then Snow White, but with a twist in those classic fairy tales!

This was just as good as the first one. Min and Colin are great together. I laughed out loud several times with Colin's tales as they are traveling to Scotland. Numerous bad things happen. Colin shares his greatest fear. I liked the post-script at the end about early women scientists. Recommended series.

Review - this is the first in a M-M series that I had been hearing a bunch about lately. I really ended up enjoying this one. Ty and Zane - wow total odd couple like characters at the beginning of the book who get paired up together by the Director of the FBI. Both feel like they will kill the other one before they solve the case! In for a big surprise when they start to look at each other much differently once they are working together trying to catch a killer. I was able to figure out the killer about halfway through but still suspenseful. I will be continuing with this series.

Mercy Thompson is one of most favorite series...ALWAYS pre-ordered, and so eagerly awaited! Always pick it up on a day when I can read the entire book, as I know I won't be able to put it down.

Very happily, Ms. Briggs has never disappointed me yet, and this was a wonderful addition to the series.

Don't want to do any spoilers, so will just (very generally) mention some of my favorites...being in Adam's head, and seeing his take on Mercy & their relationship, Mercy's refusal to ever give up, the fun "visits" back to my hometown...yep, have been to many of those places, and driven that stretch of road many, many times...(though not as many as Mercy did in such a short amount of time), Gabriel's family, the Moor and the exciting pacing of the story. Also loved seeing so many favorite characters popping up, even for a short visit!

The only disappointing thing is the wait for the next installment...

REVIEW:

Loved it !!!! Each Mercy Thompson book gets better than its previous one in the series , and this book is no exception... But one surprie is that the book is told from alternating perspectives of Mercy and Adam...

In this book Mercy and Adam have to face crazy Cantrip agents, assassin fae, psycho vampire etc... Just the usual for them...

The language and narrative of the book is just great... Couldn't put this book down at all !!!

And, I just cannot wait for the next book to come out!!!

Thoughts:

This has been on my TBR forever, and is one I HAD to read before the 31st for Mt. TBR challenge, due to being on the list so long! So, very glad it fit in to this!

That said, I quite enjoyed the book. And read it in an afternoon.

Danica Shardae is an avian shapeshifter and future "queen" , and her people have been at war with the serpiente for so long neither side remembers how it started. Both she and Zane Cobriana, serpiente heir, would do ANYTHING to stop the war, and the slaughter of both their peoples. The solution, proposed by the third party tiger shapeshifters who served, briefly, as mediators, is for them to marry.

Both sides storm out, but as that appears the most likely possibility of ending the war, Danica and Zane seriously consider whether that step of trust on their parts can bring enough trust to end the war.

I liked the characters, the world, the idea (though it's not so new). Overall well-done, but not outstanding. I'm debating whether to continue or not, (not sure I should have read reviews for the second book...want to see more of these TWO, but the next book seems to shift dramatically). We'll see...so many, many books I want to read....

I'm assuming they don't have "school districts" there like they do here? (meaning you are already slated for a school based on where you live.... unless you choose to send your child to a private school) So you have to "apply" to high schools? That seems like a lot of work and stress for High School.

Rachel-RN (rachelgoodbyeborders) | 1368 comments Done The Mage's Daughter (Nine Kingdoms, #2) by Lynn Kurland 3/21 3*
(A bit longer than my "usual," but I found I had more to say than I normally do...)
I was bit annoyed that the strong Morgan from book 1 is missing in this one. The Morgan in this one is weak. I realize she found out her heritage in this one and it wasn't something she expected. She had to come to terms with a lot of things. I get she hates mages. But. Get. Over. It. She does (finally) accept it more by the end, but the journey towards it seemed to take forever. She was just too overwrought in this book. I'm hoping strong Morgan makes her appearance in book 3. I did get glimpses of her in the middle to end in book 2.
I do think my taste had changed from the time I read book 1 (I looked and I read it in Jan 2010- damn!). I do prefer some sex in my romances and hers with Miach is rated G (most assuredly) in this one. I get that this book is billed as a "Fantasy Romance," but some "sexy times" would be nice please!
Just one other thing; there are a lot of "long-lived" people in this one. My complaint with that is they are all men (with the exception of one woman). Their significant others all met with tragic ends. Nice, right?

message 247: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Something like that. Compulsory education is until the end of Junior high, and based on where you live (districts). There is a complicated selection process for applying to high schools, which for public high schools in my prefecture (state), culminates in an entrance examination (last Tuesday) and interviews (last Wednesday) with results on the following Tuesday (this week). Lots of kids take private school tests as a back-up, too.

It is a lot of work & stress, but most folks just regard it as "the way it is". Having grown up with a different structure, I think it doesn't have to be so bad. The same thing happens three years down the road for university entrance exams. (The pass/fail is almost entirely on the your score for one test, rather than test, academic background, extracurricular activities, etc., though that does play a part in "special entrance")

OK...rather long answer! LOL!

BUT, through that for now, tremendously relieved!
