Judithe | 6566 comments And, thank you very much for your kind words.

The funeral was for the very, very kind and forward looking founder of the nursery & early learning school where I work once a week. He strongly believed that unlocking the potential of our children unlocks the potential of our world. Showing a child the joy of exploring an learning about our world will benefit not only that child, but all of us. He focused on education for pre- and elementary school. He inspired educators and children alike. I know some of those kids who have now become adults, and are making their own, small (or not so small in some cases), but positive marks. He will be, and is, missed.

Judithe | 6566 comments One last comment and I'm going to bed...have ONE class in the morning...Sunday, but once a month, and reading an English picture book and playing with littles...fun work!...

First exam is happily over, pass or fail, it was a good thing. Happy 15th birthday celebration for the boy afterward. Results in a week, and though I truly hope he passed, as this is not his first school choice, we're fine either way. Supportive parent duties also accomplished, peaceful home and now it's bed time. Will revert back to the STUDY-STUDY-STUDY demon-of-his-existence at some point, tomorrow. (Probably about the time I begin my book search in earnest!)

That is always such a bummer. Hope you like this one better.

I really, really liked this one. I enjoyed both Susannah and Bram. I thought both characters both complimented each other well. I think all the secondary characters were well written as well and look forward to future books in this series.

~Melissa~ | 1616 comments Nice job Rachel! your all gonna think I'm nuts. I'm going to read The Cereal Murders (A Goldy Bear Culinary Mystery, #3) by Diane Mott Davidson for this challenge because the other book is over 600 pgs and I know I won't finish it within our time frame. Should have checked that out first, lol
I'll just read Beautiful Creatures in between my other challenge books.

Thoughts:

I read the first Southern Arcana book last year, but need a character guide! LOL..the guys' names start with too many A's, and I felt a little confused!

Despite that, this was a very good read. Nick(y) Pelton is a werewolf, and her sister is a seer. We met them in Crux. Nick and Derek Gabriel had a very strong mutual attraction thing going, and we just knew they'd get their book. Here it is. There's also lots of mayhem, plotting and manipulating, which means there are a lot of hard choices and difficult things to overcome. Nick and Derek find their way to each other (this IS a romance, so don't complain about it being a spoiler...you just had to know that would happen, some way, somehow.), but there is much more to come before the other characters find their HEAs. Looking forward to reading the next, but think I need to re-read Crux, too!

It's been a while since I've read a Goldy Bear mystery. This one starts when she finds the dead body of the boy to be valedictorian of her sons Prep School after a event she has catered at the headmaster's house. Several interesting characters, the parents are all nuts about getting their children into this or that college and again we have Tom Schulz lovable patient cop overseeing the mayhem. As always mysteries and recipes - no better combination in my opinion.

Review:
I really liked this book! The story was slow going at first, but as I read on, it picked up and got really interesting! Once that happened, the story was to me, nonstop action that had me on the edge of my seat wondering what will happen next if they'll be able to stop the countdown before the end of the world happens. I can't wait for book two, Unbreakable to come out because I'm curious to see what happens next!

We have about 26 hours to get 2 more reviews in or no moving on the game board this week!

❉ All team members must read, rate and review their book BEFORE moving on; post your book choice, rating and review on your team thread. For this reason, it's important that each team member be able to read, rate and review a book a week. If a team is unable to draw because of a missing team member's post, the entire team will have to wait a week before drawing again.

Nici (queennici102) | 697 comments I finished The Awakening on 2/1 and give it two stars. I had hoped that the second book in the series would be better, but its not. It was a struggle to get through. I guess that my problem was all the genre mixing didn't do it for me. I enjoy reading religious fiction and I love vampire paranormal books but the combination isn't working. Or perhaps there is another reason. Well for whatever reason I didn't like this book and will not continue the series

This book, though not as good as the first one, still kept me engrossed. Finley, Griffin , Sam and Emily have come to New York to save Jasper, only to find that he is not in jail, but is seemingly roaming free with Dalton, for whom he has to get back the pieces and put back the whole machine which he stole from him, in order to keep Mei Xing, his former lover alive...

Finley infiltrates Dalton's gang alone and tries to help him, and find out the truth in the process...

As always, I loved the characters,... Though, I did not like Mei Xing .... I loved the setting and devices in this novel.

But,if I come across any more love triangles ( already 4, and counting !!! ), I think I'm going to scream !!!

All-in-all, a worthwhile read for those who love steampunk...

This one picks up where the first left off. It sucked that Avry and Kerrick were separated for most of the book. I understand why, they each had something they needed to do. More revelations about the Death and Peace Lillies and the Northern Tribes. A character thought dead comes back, but others die. I'm curious to see how she balances it- I love those characters, but in a war it's unrealistic to think everyone with live. This one ends with a cliffhanger (I think there are with multiple ones). I'm glad I read this, but I probably should have waited until book 3 comes out (should be in Dec I think).

Second in the series. Starts right were #1 leaves off. We meet a lot of new people in this second book. Lissa begins to learn life within the Council from her adopted sire. She is offered out to help the Pack again. Becomes engaged to stop others from "sniffing" her way. Ends on a cliffhanger and was truly glad that I already had #3 ready to go. Lastly, the men in this book - YIKES!! Many of them are overbearing - lets just say alpha to the extreme while leaving her in the dark about many things. It is highly entertaining though.

My Review:

This book ends in a major cliffhanger....... I can't wait for the third book to be out....

In this book Charlotte and Charles have moved out of Jean-Baptiste's houe for a while, and in their place, Violette and Arthur have come... The Numa have been silent, and have virtually diappeared since their old leader had been slayed and this puts the Revenant on their guard as they believe that the Numa are upto something big....

Meanwhile, Vincent and Kate try to find a way to escape their doomed romance. According to a prophecy there will be a 'Champion ' with a lot of qualities , who will bring the Revenants to victory. Many think that Vincent is that Champion. Violette and Kate strike up a friendship, albeit after a bit of struggle , while Georgia , Kate's sister instantly dislikes Violette.

As per Violette's advice, Vincent contantly does something secretive, which will supposedly bring a way to prevent Vincent from dying time and time again, atleast till Kate is alive.
This takes a huge toll on him, and when Kate, obviously concerned asks him about it , he refuses to discuss it..... This make Kate determined to take the matter into her own hands...

I love many characters in this book... Not only Kate and Vincent, who are one of my favourite couples, but also Jules, Ambrose, Georgia, etc. Though the book sagged at times, it made up for it in the cliffhanger in the end.... Looking forward to the final book of this series.
