FL1: Team #9 ~ Divine Nine
Hello team! Can't wait to meet ya all here, and looking forward to reading with you!!First edit: Well,
The happiest thing is I'll finally be able to settle down when picking a book cause I KNOW "this" is what to read this week.
OK. Back to paper grading, and (almost!) wishing it were the weekend so I could stop dithering over which book to pick (and ending with no pick at all...it's very, very sad!)
Second edit: Peeked around (yes, I should be working, but...) and we need a name...a brilliant name!
Hello team! I am nici and I live in a very cold Iowa in the US. Can't wait to read with you! Fair warning, I work 15 hour shifts both Saturday and Sunday every weekend, so I will probably post my book choices on Monday
Hi team! Waves at Nici and Judithe. I'm Melissa and live in very cold Illinois!! I hate cold weather....oh well. Lived here my whole life you'd think I'd be used to it,lol. I'm so excited for this to start. My RL is insane at the moment as well so I will pass the captain hat also but willing to assist all of us through this first round. Let the colors begin!!
Hi team! I also live in Illinois here all my life. As for team captain, I've never done it before for other team challenges so I don't know if I make a good team captain.
Hi there Amy! Where are u at in Illinois? My dh is from the Chicago area and I have some family also that lives there. I am in Iowa city and am ready for spring!
Nici wrote: "Hi there Amy! Where are u at in Illinois? My dh is from the Chicago area and I have some family also that lives there. I am in Iowa city and am ready for spring!"About 30 minutes from Chicago.

Boise! That's rather close to my hometown, but quite far from my current one! (I'm in Tokushima, Japan...find Osaka on a map, then trail your finger directly down to the next island...you'll probably land directly over my house). We're not as cold as someplaces...but no insulation (or not enough!) Looking forward to SPRING! Funny how we have so many from the IL area!
Hi team!!! Preethi here.. I'm from India... This is the first time I am trying a team challenge... A bit excited ....
Some tidbits on the number 9 (courtesy of Wikipedia):Maybe these will help us think of a name.....
*There are nine muses in Greek mythology (Calliope (epic poetry), Clio (history), Erato (erotic poetry), Euterpe (lyric poetry), Melpomene (tragedy), Polyhymnia (song), Terpsichore (dance), Thalia (comedy), and Urania (astronomy)).
*It takes nine days (for an anvil) to fall from heaven to earth, and nine more to fall from earth to Tartarus
*In J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth, there are nine rings of power given to men, and consequently, nine ringwraiths. Additionally, The Fellowship of the Ring consists of nine companions, representing the free races and also as a positive mirror of the nine ringwraiths
*Nine is a composite number, its proper divisors being 1 and 3. It is 3 times 3 and hence the third square number. Nine is a Motzkin number. It is the first composite lucky number, along with the first composite odd number.
@Rachel - I like the Nine MusesSome other name thoughts:(I am on a nine team in another group so here were some we threw around & a few new ones)
Notorious Nines
Never-ending Nines
Naughty Niners
Nifty Niners
Finish Line Nine
Divine Nine
Wicked Nines
Nine Fantasy(or Color or Candy) Seekers (or 6 since there are 6 of us)

Preethi, Judithe and Nici ~ any thoughts on names@Rachel - that would be great if you could be captain.
I can help. I'm just unable to post with connected links in them. I'm co-captain on another team challenge and halfway through my links stopped working correctly - so I do the background stuff and she posts - if that makes sense, lol
I think Rachel would make a good captain... What do you all say???
The Nine (Six?) Muses and Divine Nine (Six?) have a good ring to them tooEveryone okay with me as captain then?

Amy - which direction from Chicago?? We are about 45min NW of Chi-town,lol....we could be neighbors(ish) and not know it
We just need Judithe and Preethi to ring in on you being captain and we should be all good. When do we have to have a team name by??

This should be fun!! I just finished
- really loving this series and I finished
which was really good as well and I beleive a stand alone.I have to finish 2 books for other challenges over the weekend (
)and 2 buddy reads (
)as well....I think they may roll over into Feb,lol What about everyone else?
Rachel, congrats on captainship! HOORAY!I like Divine Nine, but am OK with the others, too.
Sorry...I'll be around more tomorrow...EXTREME STRESS...son taking first high school entrance exam RIGHT NOW! Still figuring out who will pick him up after interviews this afternoon, coordinating all this while teaching classes (now enjoying lunch) after having had about three and half hours sleep 'cause had to get his lunch made, and drive him there (at the same time as the other 1000 -literally!- examinees) on the first snowy day in town this winter...great way to top off a week that also held a very unexpected funeral, and the start of finals (once finals start, it's easy for me...not so much for the students though).
SOOOOOOOOOO....next week, I will be around a little more, the week after that, I'll be practically living here! Sorry about my semi-MIA status so far...always checking out the thread, even if I'm not posting much!!!
Oh...and I'm reading the final Blades of the Rose novel (Zoe Archer)...4-book-bundle, but actually have no idea the name! Haven't had time to look it up! EEP!

Sorry it sounds like you've had a rough go this week! My condolences for your loss. Also, high school entrance exams...YIKES is all I can say ~ that will be me next year and add snow to the ground
-yippee.
Hope your books are taking your mind off of some of your stress☺

Judithe- Divine Nine
Preethi
~Melissa~Nine Muses
Nici-The Nine Companions
Rachel- Nine Muses, Divine Nine
What do you think Preethi?
Here's to a better week Judithe!
Divine Nine has a good ring to it ....
Is
any good Melissa?I will finish
tonight and may start a novella while waiting to pick our card....I've got several books separated by color.
Rachel- Goodbye Borders wrote: "Is

as it will work for 2-3 challenges and the other will only work for one... I've been enjoying surfing the net instead of reading like I should be ☺But when I get to it I'll let you know. I've heard good things about it.
Rachel ~ I haven't read Moira Rogers before... is she good...what author for pnr would you compare her to?
People, I have a basic doubt....
After this week's draw has been done, and the color has been decided, should we read a book and then, post its rating together???
Or, should we first update which book we are going to read, and then update the ratings and reviews after we are finished with the book????

When color announced let everyone know your choice. Then when you finish post your review on this thread:-) (With rating and date finished)Let me think on Moira Rogers. What I've read I've really liked.
Do we know the time (midwest vs japan) yet for the color announce? Just so I have an idea what time to check on Sundays.
Thanks for the info, Rachel!!!
Shelly Laurenston is the one that comes to mind similar Moira Rogers- excellent secondary characters (that get their own book and HEA) and humor (although less humor than Laurenston's books)Japan's about 16 hours ahead of me (MST), so would be 15 hrs CST and 14 hrs EST.

Got it ~ thanks. I love Shelly Laurenston so I will need to add Moira Rogers to my TBR pile. THUD it just got longer, lol
FYI, I'm in Japan...and, it's 11:45 p.m. on Saturday night, right now. I think Steph said a 9 a.m. or so post...will run check, If that is correct, 9 hours and 10 minutes from NOW, where ever you are!
http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...There's a link about time zone, it's 9 a.m. (+/-) Japan Time (aka, my time! LOL! And Steph's) so do the math from the previous post. In that link, Lauren wrote about it being 2 a.m. for her time zone. Rachel, how is the time for you? If it's an OMG time of day, I can hit the randomizer link for us (have kids...and early riser spouse...8 a.m. is sleeping in! now...) But, no worries for me on that, (at least until it's that win-defining-move...) what works best for all!
