I liked it a lot, which surprised me because i don't remember liking a different book by the same author all that much. Nicely suspenseful. Not too terribly cliche. Characters weren't super annoying although the heroine came awfully close. There were too many characters I thought. I had trouble keeping track of them at first. The ending seemed kinda cliffhanger-y or at least it seemed to me to be setting up for a sequel, but near as I can tell the author hasn't written anything since then (this was written in 2008). Not sure if she quit the writing business or maybe she passed away. Her website hasn't been updated since 2008, so I'm not sure. The formatting on my kindle was terrible. I'm not counting off a star for that but it did detract from my reading experience.

Sorry for the lack of detail and if this post looks funny it's cuz I'm writing this on my phone from the road.

Nobody writes erotica and builds anticipation like Cara McKenna. I love her characters, particularly her working class male heroes. This book was so yummy. The "world building" in terms of the setting was perfect. I can't wait to read her next book.

This book was an emotional rollercoaster, a fun, hot, dirty emotional rollercoaster and I loved every second of it. Personally I’m not into BDSM, but I do understand the lifestyle. I understand that people have needs and I think that Kele Moon handled the extremes of that lifestyle really well in this book. I actually think this is the best book covering BDSM that I’ve ever read. I have so much love for Danny, Eve and Paul. I felt every up and down they went through. I understood their struggles and their fears.

The chemistry between the three characters was electric and it was interesting that the connections between them were distinctly different depending on the relationship. Danny and Eve were very different together then say Eve and Paul or Danny and Paul. Then the three of them together really was pure magic. I wanted them to always be just the three of them together, but of course that wasn’t always the case. I never really felt that Eve and Paul were that great together if Danny wasn’t involved. However, as long as Danny was one half of the couple then things were great.

Danny was what really grabbed me about this story. There really wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for the people he loved. It was amazing watching him flip a switch to become what they needed, but what was truly great was seeing him when he was truly vulnerable. Although Paul and Eve seemed to grow the most in this book, I think that Danny was truly the star.

I would definitely re-read this book and I would have loved to give it a full five star rating, but I had to mark it down a half star because of the whole Danny Boy, Evie Girl, Paul Guy name thing. It was way too constant and while Danny Boy and Evie Girl weren’t horrible, Paul Guy really bothered me. I cringed every time I read that nickname until I started just skipping over it. Without that, I think the book would have been worth a 5 out of 5 rating.

I've had a busier than usual week and am pretty much working and sleeping and going to meetings. I'm going to read Private Arrangements by Sherry Thomas since I think that will be fast and easy to read.

I can't get enough of this series. This may have been my least favorite so far though. It was pretty much straigh forward we have troubled pasts so I won't give a relationship a chance, but they fall for each other anyway.

I was pretty disappointed by this book. This book, probably more than other BDB books, was the long await Qhuay book. And yeah, that part was well written. But there were way too many storylines (I think 6-7) and the constant switch between stories was not just confusing but jolting -- not smooth. I am glad I read it, but it was not the same experience as the earlier books.

Private Arrangements by Sherry Thomas
Finished: 03/30/13
★★★★1/2

I'll say this about Sherry Thomas. She writes a great book. Her debut novel was no exception. I was worried at first that I wasn't going to like the H and h (Camden and Gigi). The book was about 1/3 flashbacks to when they met and in those, Gigi was kind of a snob, a funny and sarcastic snob, but still a snob. She grew out of that luckily. And Camden at the beginning during the current timeline was mean mean mean to Gigi. I'll be frank, IMO he was meaner and more vengeful than was called for by the circumstances. But overall I really enjoyed it, even as they were breaking my heart. They were clearly madly in love with each other, but neither realized it. So both were putting up walls and acting as though they didn't care.

My favorite Sherry Thomas book is His at Night, but this runs a close second.

It was high time I got to this series and Im so glad I did . It was such a perfect cozy read . Though to be honest sometimes the heroine did get on my nerves . and my fave quote -

“Where are we going?” Annabelle asked, resisting his hold on her wrist.
“To the house. If they’re not willing to be witnesses, then it seems I’ll have to debauch you in front of someone else.”

Review:
I loved this book. When I sit down to read romance I need a few things -- detailed and complex character development, a believable romantic development, a rich building of the "world" and some good steam. Eyes of Silver, Eyes of Gold had all of this. It is a Western and the setting is beautifully written. The author knows her stuff. The characters are complex people and their actions are consistent with the personality. I highly recommend this book.

I have to start off this review by saying that I do ultimately enjoy these books. They are fun, quirky and an overall easy read in between heavier books. With that said, there really isn’t a whole lot of substance to these books. I don’t have to think too hard to figure out what’s going on, although sometimes I have to really think in order to follow along. Sometimes the books get really spastic and they are all over the place. Betsy’s thought process is often frantic and then there are multiple pieces of storylines happening at the same time in one giant cluster of a conversation. I’ll keep reading for sure, but I worry that someday the chaos and lack of substance might drive me away.

Well, Vane is smoking hot. Most of Sherrilyn Kenyon's heroes are though. What a great storyline though. I enjoyed the foray into the Were-hunter world as well as making our way back to New Orleans with the majority of the characters from previous and future books (as opposed to Dance with the Devil and Kiss of the Night taking place in Alaska and Minnesota respectively). I liked the plot of this one more than Kiss of the Night, with Vane, Fang, and Fury's backgrounds. It was also funnier. I kept getting Fang and Fury mixed up though. Not the characters but their names; wish Kenyon had picked names with more difference. This was possibly exacerbated by a few occasions of poor editing actually mixing up their names. I liked Fury a lot; he would make an interesting character in his own book (does he have one yet?).

Bride was nothing special as a heroine. I only finished the book a few hours ago and couldn't tell you much about her personality. I don't blame her for being suspicious of Vane's motives. See spoiler that probably makes me a terrible person. (view spoiler)

Ready for the next book in the series with Valerius and Tabitha. I'm not a Tabitha fan so far, but I find Valerius intriguing.
