Sasha I'm at 49 - sorry, I can't be bothered to reproduce the list. I find it a little hard to take any list seriously that includes the Da Vinci Code and Lovely Bones. Sorry fans, no offense intended - well, not much offense - but I think most people would agree that they're not on the same level as Dickens, anyway.

I do find myself wanting to read one more book just to make an even number.

Emma | 100 comments Well, although I love the BBC, they could not be more wrong. Although I have many on my list to read this year, I have already read 23 of these 100 books. But maybe the average person...

message 167: by Kaion (new)

Kaion (kaionvin) Where did you get this list off the BBC?

BBC can't even make up a list that makes sense, so I wouldn't put much though into their unscientific "reckon"ing.

Percy Pigsbottom For those interested I think I've found the original source of this list. It's not by the BBC but they did write an article about it.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainm...

I couldn't find the complete list through the BBC but it is available at the bottom of this article:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2007/mar...

I haven't gone through the list myself yet. I'm hoping I manage more than than...

Elizabeth D (elizabeth_d) I was pleased to find I'd read 62 of these 100. I'm feeling quite erudite! Sad that all the Harry Potters count as just one title, or I would have scored higher. On the other hand, I thought it was interesting that I first got credit for The Chronicles of Narnia, and then again for The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. There were a couple of things like that. . . I wonder why they did it that way.
