Buddy Reads -- Main Thread

This section was requested a couple of times, please forgive me for not adding it sooner!

We have already noticed there are so many books out there worth reading, impossible to cover at once in the club. So buddy reads would be perfect choice for those who have for an example already read B2M selection of the month and are looking for some new thrills.

But, for those not familiar with this term, first a bit of explanation: this section is for readers who are eager to read some particular books at some particular time but together with other fellow members -- assuming these particular books weren't already read in our bookclub, of course :) (to avoid that, please check our Bookshelf section first)

So, here you may post your wishes and hope for the response from other readers. When you get an approval from one or more members for discussion, feel free to open a topic about the book in question in this folder.

For example, I might see if anyone else is interested in reading Lord of the Flies (as I'm getting ready to read it for another group here soon) and discussing any relevant films, and if they are, I'll open a thread and whoever wants to can jump in and discuss it (or lurk, of course).

Is that a book anyone else is interested in reading in the next month?

I certainly would love to read Lord of the Flies because I have started to read it months ago but left it behind. Reading it all together would be incentive for me!

If you have time only on February or you don't want to wait, we can start on February, I'll try to find out time for it. Although it would be great to start on March because now there is really big line of books I have to read. :)

As suggested in Let's Talk... thread, I would like to propose reading of Les Misérables - say, starting mid-March, and reading as long as it would take us, considering it's a bit longish book? Would somebody read it with me?

P.S. I would love to read Lord of the Flies too, but I fear this would be too much for me... But maybe I'll manage to read it with you, who knows ;)

I would like to read it too. Mid to end of March would work for me.

Great, thanks. It will be interesting read, I believe, and there are also some adaptations that seem worth exploring after reading the book. As I understand, Les Miserables consists of five "tomes", so if we undertake a pace of two weeks for each - implying (hopefully) reading some other books beside this one - and movies later, it might be done in three months ;)

Fun! I'm going to be out of town the week of 3/10. So, I'll plan on starting the week of 3/17. Now, if I can just finish up all the other books I've started before then!

I have always wanted to read Les Mis and it is just sitting on my Kindle waiting patiently for its turn. I would love to join you on this project. Just let me know when I need to start and I am in!!!

I just got Les Mis from the library...along with every other thick book on my waiting list! Why do they always come in at the same time?

Anyway, I have a feeling I'll be turning it back in and putting it back on hold. I just don't have time right now. But it would be a reread for me, so I have no problem lurking on a thread about it and offering thoughts on various sections.

If you are reading Les Mis over three months I would join. I have a ton of books to read every month, so reading it over three months won't stress me out too much :)

Great, I might open the thread mid-March, after setting our next Quick Read. Two or three weeks for each tome (of five) should suit us, but even if we would get behind with reading (well, I might easily be :), thread is always there, so no sweat anyway. This will be casual read -- there you may relate your thoughts whenever you wish, after each tome or after reading the whole book, about the movies etc.

Sabine, I'm not making any definite plans at this point. I just started a new job and started selling Pampered Chef right around the same time (not intentionally, it just worked out that way) so I've been pretty swamped. You're more than welcome to start the thread though, and I'll jump in later when I get a chance to get to it.

My Les Mis book just arrived from Amazon today - oh my!! ! I knew how many pages it was, but actually seeing it in my hands was still startling. Wow, this is going to be interesting! I sure hope we all make it through in one piece.

I think I'm not up for a complete re-read of Les Mis right now, but I am reading And Then There Were None for another group, if someone wants to do a buddy read on that with me.
