message 3: by Brittany (new)

Brittany (BrittyJC) | 1236 comments positive reading takes you to magical places
negative reality becomes duller

message 4: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (Oceanwhisper) | 28 comments Well, positive is you definitely become smarter and have a wider vocab than before and negative...I find myself managing to predict what happens! I never used to but the more I read, the easier I can predict...

message 5: by Jadyn (new)

Jadyn (fldsmdfr) Yeah Sarah, same here. I know what so many words mean now, words that I thought I would never know what they mean but, I know that there is still so much to learn and I feel that reading is a good way to learn all that you need to. Reading is a big part of my life, and my education. So I feel that there is no such thing as reading too much whether its fiction of non-fiction. READING ROCKS! READ ON! :D

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

Positives: You are smarter, look at the world differently, believe in magic, and overall become awesome.
Negatives: Regular life appears boring and people uninteresting.

message 7: by Jadyn (new)

Jadyn (fldsmdfr) Agreed.

message 8: by Whitney (new)

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 21 comments Positives: outlet from stress of life,a non harmful hobbie in most cases , makes you more open to other people and their differences (get to travel to another place)

Negatives: If you become obsessed can take a toll on your physical and mental health. May not like reality and perfer to spend time "living" in your books instead of being with real people. May skip out on physical activities and become over weight or worst.

I dont think there is any problem with being an avid reader and someone who loves reading I obviously do or I wouldnt be on goodreads and blogs but its important to balance your life books can be as damaging as Video Games if taken to seriously.

I say I agree, and being OBSESSED with reading, can benefit A LOT!!!

couldn't agree more!

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

Positive: New vocabularies, rich imagination, knowing new things and stuff, good writing skills, have more friends (because of goodreads and tumblr) and become inspired.
Negative: Too much imagination, postponing school work, not going outside, too much fangirling and tumblr.

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

And how is it even possible to "read too much" in the first place?

message 13: by Leyah (new)

Leyah (serferrant) | 8612 comments I second Cat. Is there such a thing?

message 14: by Starlight (new)

Starlight (starlightponylover) | 138 comments Positive: You are taken into a completely different world
Negative: You could become Elinor from Inkheart

Aηahι- Aηι:{P (ani--justkeepbeingawesome--) unnile othe mom's, mine sometimes has to tell me "Anahi! stop reading and watch TV or someting!!!"

message 16: by Tabibeth (new)

Tabibeth Cosper | 20 comments You get smarter and you go to go tonew places. But for me I read so much I get behind in school.

message 17: by Veronica (last edited Jul 15, 2013 06:47AM) (new)

Veronica | 1 comments Positive: You can travel to far away places for free, you can expand your knowledge of cultures and religions around the world and become more tolerant. You definitely become wiser and you end up facing rough patches in life in a more mature way, knowing you are not the only one who's been there.
Negative: You might find yourself wishing you were alone reading your book and not listening to your friend's stupid conversation (you know, the kind of friends who are show offs and are only interested in letting you know how cool they are and how much money they have.. you feel desperate because you know you are wasting precious reading time).

spidrenflora | 78 comments It's not possible to read too much.

message 19: by Chantae (new)

Chantae B. Reading is fun especially when it an AMAZING book. But if your reading and setting more important things to the side that's reading a little to much
Most of the time there is no such thing as reading to much!

Elysia (elysia_rae) Erica wrote: "It's not possible to read too much."

Haha, agreed! Though I think the positives are: You get a chance to escape from anything that is bothering you for awhile, you become smarter and learn new words you might not of heard of before, it can make you happy, and it enhances your creativity and imagination. :)

Negative is that reality is kinda dull next to books and you end of wishing for your late Hogwarts letter often. Oh, and the pain you experience from the attachment to fictional characters.

message 21: by Daniela (new)

Daniela (x13swiftified13x) | 5 comments I tend to read books about amazing people my own age who are super clever *cough*John Green *cough* or people who go on amazing adventures or even just fall in love because for a short moment I become them. And even though I have a perfectly normal and good life, it's nice to just... Have something amazing happen sometimes. Everyone wants to be special, and with reading everyone is special :)

(That was some serious deepness from me, man)

message 22: by Arbaaz (new)

Arbaaz Khan (arbaazkhan1999) | 143 comments I don't think there is something that you should feel that the reality is dull, because I think if you are mature enough to read then you are mature enough to know that the book you are reading is also written by a real man, not a fictional writer from misery by Stephen king.

- ̗̀ jess ̖́- (kazbrekkers) positive: you are smarter and know a lot about different worlds and linguistics and you have a vast imagination and you learn things and history and science and it makes you more open minded

negative: reality seems boring and if you're like me who reads when they shouldn't then you end up losing marks because you're reading instead oops

message 24: by Maddy (new)

Maddy (maddybamford) | 16 comments Yeah I always read and it annoys my mum and dad so much! A couple of times they've actually hidden the book I was reading and it's always when I'm at the very end they do it!! Another bad thing about reading to much is when your a procrastinator like me, you tend to leave ALL of your assignments to the last minute because all you do is read.

message 25: by Arbaaz (new)

Arbaaz Khan (arbaazkhan1999) | 143 comments well, if you read TOO MUCH then you have a problem, everything must be in a balance.

message 26: by Verity (new)

Verity | 24 comments I read far too much and as a result I leave everything I'm suppose to do until the last minute. Not so good sometimes.

message 27: by spidrenflora (new)

spidrenflora | 78 comments Guys, there is no such thing as reading too much. That is blasphemous. now go to your room and think about what you've done.

message 28: by Jazzy (new)

Jazzy (stairstepjitters) | 135 comments "Reading too much"? How dare you disrespect me in my own house! Dishonor on you, dishonor on your cow!

message 29: by areeba (new)

areeba (bookish_fantasies) | 40 comments Ha! There is no such thing as reading too much for anyone! Except for my parents, they get pretty mad when I'm in my room all day...reading
