Grace Meredith, it seriously is one of the best fantasy books I've read so far. It's hard to find a high fantasy novel that's super interesting and different from the normal.

I can't wait to read The Lunar Chronicles: I have book 2 and I'm waiting for the first one to arrive. (:
Brooklyn, I love the Lunar Chronicles so much! The only one I haven't read was Winter. Grace Meridith, Akiva is amazing as well! I haven't read the last book yet and I need to so bad!
Eeep xoxoasia, I just had a cool idea! Do you want to do a buddy read for the third book in the DS&B trilogy? I could friend & message you...?
This series is SO epic, it's hard to recommend anything as good!! I would put The Lunar Chronicles and Leigh Bardugo's Six of Crows on this level. Both amazing!!
Grace Meredith wrote: "The Lunar Chronicles, YAAAS! Have you read Winter yet?"the whole book was amazingly paced. it wasn't draggy at all. loved it.
I read Six of Crows like a week ago and it was so good!!! Everyone should definitely read it! I finished the first book in the Lunar chronicles yesterday and it was alright but I have a feeling the series will get better.
I've read the Grisha books, it's a very imaginative and cool trilogy but I remember I wasn't too impressed with the ending. (view spoiler)The red queen (V. Aveyard): Don't expect Mare to be anything like the female characters in SJ Maas books, but I liked the male characters - all nice and grey with a mind of their own.
Snow Like Ashes (Raasch Sara): Easy read, I liked that Meira owns up to her powers and isn't as crazily insecure as some other female protagonists. She isn't Celaena, but at least she's decisive.
A court of Thorns and Roses (SJ Maas): Loved the book but unsure of weather I will continue reading if SJ Maas brings in a new ship - I am not a fan of jumping ships if these sacrifice characters, who were perfectly written, in order to make room for someone, previously evil, who needs redemption in the shape of killing off others. That's a MEH for me and if the speculations about the next books are right, I'm already 'Meh-ed' out...
Shatter Me (Tahereh Mafi): The first 40 pages were torture, I was honestly ready to put that book down... but I fought trough it and then finished it in one sit. The writing is actually good. The world building is there but subtle and confusing at times. This book def puts the romance in the foreground and I was surprised I didn't mind. However, I decided not to read further and keep this book in loving memory of a wonderful wonderful wonderful romance. (view spoiler)
I do think that people enjoying the Throne of Glass series would enjoy at least some of these books tho :)
Ordered Six of Crows the other day and am really excited to read it as everyone seems to love it, rating it way better than the Grisha books :)
Has anyone said Midnight Thief yet? I just started it and I love it. It's fantasy, about a teen girl who's a thief and becomes part of the Assassins' Guild.
Have you guys read an ember in the ashes by Sabaa Tahir? The characters aren't as fierce as celaena at least not in the beginning but the concept is awesome!
I've read it! And yes it was great.
Oops nope got it confused with another book. But it looks great!
I saw somebody mentioned Graceling by Kristin Cashore once. I gave the book a go and have to say, if you end up analysing characters and worlds etc., rather than the feminism that this book is supposedly portraying, you might just end up enjoying it. A lot. Beware for those who have extreme pro-marriage views - altho I can't imagine fans of TOG to be too engrossed with that.
Takes a few pages to suck you in but after that I had to stay up all night to finish it. Loved the main characters, Katsa is very Celaena-like and Greening/Po, he's just one of the awesomest male characters in YA fantasy ever.
@Tash, I tried to read Graceling and found it really boring, but I'd be willing to give it a go again. Hehe about the pro-marriage part, yeah fantasy readers in general aren't too caught up in that, I don't think. :D
@ Grace Meredith it picked up at about 1/3 of the book for me. Before that I almost quit, I was cursing myself for paying for such a boring book, LOL... that's why it really surprised me later on :DBtw, don't know if anyone mentioned it here before - Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge , I just read that and I was in awe! It's also a Beauty and the beast retelling, like ACOTAR, but it is truer to being a fairytale and the world is vivid and wonderfully described, with some twisted characters.
Oh yeah Cruel Beauty is really good and yes has some similarities to TOG. Crimson Bound by the same author is also a must read!! I preferred it to Cruel Beauty.
Daughter of Smoke and Bone series is amaaaaazing, if not the best, its def one of the best angels/demons series out there. I also enjoyed Under the Never Sky series by Veronica Rossi. The Lunar Chronicles is a must read! :)

Oh hey with the impending release of "Stars Above" by Marissa Meyer - when is the best place to read it? I just finished Cinder recently and fell in love with the world. I have Scarlet, Cress, Fairest is on its way and Winter (eep!) so I'm just wondering where Stars Above fits in? Thanks :)
I love the Lunar Chronicles, definitely one of my favourites. I'd say it's best to read it in publication order, so after Cress read Fairest and then read Stars Above last. The nine stories slot in between all the others and the last one is set after Winter.

The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer! Celaena and Cinder are somewhat alike considering that if you have read both books, you would understand.
I havent read this book yet. But many have recommended it to me and i think it looks pretty good. The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima.
Yes! The whole 7 realms series is great!! There is also a spin off series called The shattered Realms that comes out really soon. Flamecaster is the first book written by Cinda Williams Chima. Definitely a must read if you love TOG!

Yes! It is amazing, one of three of my favourite series (TOG is most definitely one of them!) Those ones and Eragon - personally I think if you like TOG, you'll absolutely love Seven Realms and Eragon ;)

I'm sorry but no...not at all...I've read both series and other than the "medieval" theme, they are not the same at all!!! Actually, if you'r into YA you most certanly shouldn't read Game of thrones...
Jennifer L Armentrout books are awesome too! For example the Covenant series.I've seen a lot of people mentioning The Lunar Chronicles and I just wanted to say: YAAAAASSSS!!!!!! They are awesome sauce like TOG
This series leans more to science fiction then fantasy, but if you haven't read the red rising trilogy by pierce brown, then you need to. It's a stunning trilogy.
Truthwitch by Susan Dennard. It's an amazing book with lots of action and adventures. It also has some romance, but it's more toward the end that it picks up. The book is more focused on friendship, but I have a feeling the next book will be even more awesome! The reason I brought up the book is that at the end in the acknologments, Susan acknologes Sarah!!!!!! Sarah J. Mass is the very first acknologment, my mind was just blown!
Then I remembered that The Starkillers series is written by both Sarah and Susan. My mind is thoroughly blown...
Anyway, I recommend reading Truthwitch.
The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. The series has 6 books, but she has like 3 other series that connect to the book. There is even a movie and a TV Series!!!! JaceXClary4LIFE! I'm finishing book 2. My library has the series (except book 5) so when I finish book 4 im getting the boxed set!
