Anne Seebach I gave this book the lowest possible rating I could. I only read the first book, and will not be reading the rest. Not because of the sex (which I didn't think was particularly explicit or disgusting) but because of the writing. It is simply not a well-written book. The plot is both derivative and poorly developed, the characters are tediously two-dimensional, and the writing itself boringly repetitive and unsophisticated. It's like reading the fanciful efforts of a teenager.

Lynn I know I am in the minority, but I did not like The Opportunist and didn't read the 2nd or 3rd book of the series.

Gaia The worst writing I've ever read. A friend of mine lend me her paperbacks in spanish, and as a translated book has a lot lost on the way, later I purchased the kindles in english to do a re-read, expecting to find something a little better. But I did not! For the first time I found a book which translation is far far better than the original, so poor the original writing is.

I'm a catalan-spanish native speaker, and I consider this series is awfully and poorly written. Can't imagine what kind of pain you -english native speakers- have endure while reading it.

I would say this is one of the worst books written that I have ever read. I rated the second one 3 and the third became one of my favorites. I ended up rating it 5. Because the third one is completely different from the others. And you could see how much Christian has changed and how truly he proved his love all long. Despite the sex scenes in it which I didn't like. I liked the overall story. I just thought that the sex scenes were disturbing, annoying, pretty graphic, and waaaaaay excessive in all three books. But more in the first and second books. Especially the first one. I just couldn't stand it.

Carolina Morales 'Bared to you' is far worse, if you ask my opinion.

Carrie, I agree with you Bared to you is much, much worse. I could not continue with the series.

Shadow Chaser This is not the worst book I've ever read. If a book is horrible, I won't even finish it. I found FSOG to be repetitive, and even silly at times. I didn't think the characters had much depth. Yes, they discussed Christian's past, but I still never felt connected to him like I have other characters before. It was like the author just licked the tootsie roll pop, but never made it to the center.

Danni Definitely high on the list. Hated it, couldn't get past the first 50 pages of the third. It has nothing to do with the erotic scenes as I read erotica all the time, but is more to do with the weak terribly built characters abusive relationships and serious lack of morale. The storyline was terrible, I felt like I was reading Twilight with sex. It is boring, predictable, poorly written, and horribly put together.
Definitely on the top of the list, next to a couple others.

Hazel Mae To be a reader is to be open-minded.

hIpnoticraQs My co workers went BONKERS over this book. I read a third of it and had to give up. Birdie, I agree with you, I don't think the sex scenes were really explicit. The sentences read like a 12 year old wrote them.

message 211: by Cathy (new) - rated it 2 stars

Cathy Finkbeiner Honestly? I wouldn't say FSOG is the worst book I ever read, for the simple reason that, while it was terrible, it did indeed entertain me. I find a boring book to be much worse than a stupid book.
