The Host (The Host, #1) The Host question

If Stephanie Meyer wasn't writing a sequal to this, how would you end it?

How would you like it to all end? The aliens finding them and taking them over? Or the humans winning and going back to normal? What will become of the characters?

I think maybe the humans could have somehow made a deal with the souls to leave the rest of the humans without souls and then the humans could have visited other planets where the souls are.

i think that the ending was actually not so bad. i think that the assumption of the story was that the ending of The Host could hold it's own if she decided never to come back to it and i think that it was good. remember that throughout the book, you have to consider that they aren't the only 'community' that has someone in their midst that really isn't human, so if there's one, there's got to be another right? others like wanda that really want to best for everyone and don't necessarily agree with things.

that being said, i'm actually ok with the ending if it's the only book in the series, and quite pleased if there's actually going to be another one.

Kirby I would like to see a sequel, but I agree that the ending was a good choice- left it open either way.

I suspect some of the souls would have found themselves living in harmony with the humans. To an extent, the souls would still have been needed to ensure the future of the human race. I got the impression that a certain generation of human child was given up as hosts when they were born. If all souls were sent back, and the human inside had disappeared that would severely dent the population.

To me it makes sense that souls like wanda were allowed to stay and live a lifetime on earth until the humans could retake control. Thats what I think anyway.

i think it ended in a great place! the only thing i would have changed is the body that wanderer got put into, she is more than just a helpless looking girl, however i am thrilled that she was able to live.
