Stephanie (Steph1408) | 1 comments Okay so I honestly remember very little about this book. It was from the point of view of a kid I believe and he says that there is this evil school in his neighborhood. He ends up inside the school somehow and they make the kids do manual labor and drink horrid drinks. That's basically all I remember and I know it's not a lot. Also, there was another similar book that involved a boy who hears about an accident at a nearby school and afterwards all the teachers and people from HIS school start acting really weird. One of the teachers trys to tell her class what's going on and the next day she is replaced because of "miscommunications" . Then students start to dissapear without explanation.I think the book ended with the boy and his family getting out of town. Both books are like middle-school level and I would really appreciateif someone could help me. Thank you!!!

Sue Elleker | 1050 comments The first one might be 'The Supernaturalists' by Eoin Colfer.
The boys are in an orphanage, and are used for commercial experiments.
Cosmo Hill is a human guinea pig in an orphanage used by corporations to test new products. Statistics say he has about a year left to live - unless he escapes. But escapes to what?

To a world of high-the gang warfare, swat teams of paralegals and a plague of four-fingered parasites who are invisible to everyone except three misfits who call themselves the Supernaturalists.

Could Cosmo be one of them? Are they the family he'd always wanted? And if he does become a Supernaturalist, will his life get any longer - or a whole lot shorter?

Michelle (dejameek) | 53 comments First one might be Story Time by Edward Bloor. A boy and his sister are sent to a prestigious school that turns out to be pretty awful. Everything is centered on their test scores, so they drink special drinks and class is all standardized tests all the time.

Cheryl (cherylllr) The Supernaturalist is a good book - tx for the nudge; I might reread it - but it doesn't quite fit. The link for the other is Story Time.

Callie Summerlin | 7 comments I don't know, they might be Never Let Me Go, although that book is more of an adult story.
The book The Silver Chair starts off with the main characters at a really bad school called the "Experiment School," but they don't remain there for long.

Stephanie, are you still looking for these two books? If yes, you probably want to separate out the second one into a discrete request.

K (kateloves) | 6 comments It wouldn't happen to be The Demon Headmaster? I know it's a series of books made for kids aged 8-10ish. There were a few kids in the story and they are sent to a school where the headmaster is basically mind controlling them to be the "perfect" student. But the plots must change in the following books, I only read the first one as a child.
