"Tell me," he said. "Give me a good reason why I shouldn't just swing you over my shoulder and run far away from here, to somewhere no one will ever find us."
His voice was a low purr now.

"Why." he said flatly.

They reached Janelle's cell/room. The guards let them through and Calum and his mother stepped in.

“Good evening, Janelle,” she said. For the longest time, she had been studying Janelle and bringing her food every now and then. She didn’t know if Janelle saw her half the time, but she thought that she would have at least a flicker of recognition at her voice.
Calum was a little confused. Janelle? His forehead wrinkled as he thought, but he didn't speak up.

"It's alright!" she said and they relaxed. Calum followed behind Janelle as his mother lead them down the twists and turns of the unknown building.
They finally reached a room with grand, wooden door. Clarissa opened the door, turning its gold handle. They entered a dining room with a lavish velvet carpet and a beautiful table that could seat a dozen. A dangerously sharp chandelier hung overhead. Clarissa smiled, gesturing to Janelle.
"Darling, have a seat, won't you? Don't be shy. I'm sure it's not what you're accommodated to, but I hope the change isn't too unsuitable," she said with a smile.

"I can imagine. I hope it is to your liking to be in a different environment for once. Now, there is a reason I have brought you here. Janelle, I need to ask you to do something for me," she said. Calum raised an eyebrow, not sure what his mother was up to.

"Wait, wait, wait. Where is this going?" he asked. He had a bad feeling about this and knowing his mother, it ran deeper than meets the eye.

"Calum, this is none of your concern. Have a seat," she almost spat at him. Almost. She kept her temper under control and turned back to Janelle.
"Gloves if you please?" she said.

"Now, Janelle, put your hands on Calum's chest."
"Wait what?!" Calum yelled.

"You'll have to trust me on this. Janelle, I said to please put your hands on Calum's chest," she repeated. She gave Calum a knowing glance and he remembered the deal they had made earlier. He would have to listen to her on this one. And all the other things she said. He prepared, stiffening as he waited for Janelle to touch him.

Clarissa simply observed.
"That's enough," she finally commented.

"He will be fine. There is little you know about Calum, but I, for one, know that his ultra immortal powers will allow him a quick recovery. Whereas what you just did would have killed a mortal, Calum will just be sore for a brief period of time," Clarissa reassured her.

"Calum, get up. You're making a big deal out of nothing," Clarissa said, rolling her eyes. She turned back to Janelle.
"Sit," she said more insistently this time.
Calum didn't move. He felt so sore, but he knew that he had to deal with it. He began to sit up and the pain shot up all in his body.

Janelle looked at her unsure what to do. She sat down but sat on the edge of the chair not daring to do anything else yet. She watched Calum hoping he's alright. She hated hurting people or using her power against anyone else or on someone.

Calum quickly walked over to the nearest chair, holding in the pain. Clarissa could have cared less as trays of food appeared in front of them.
"Help yourself," she said.

Janelle looked at her. Then at the food she didn't really eat the food the guards usually drugged her food to make her fall asleep or get weakened. She didn't dare to eat at all. She wasn't going to dare to eat anything and pass out being experimented on.
"Why not? Aren't you tired of being trapped up in here? I mean, come on! You don't even know what year it is anymore," he said.
