Ashley Tropea People keep telling me to read this, but the synposis doesn't make me think it's going to be that great. Is there romance (that's my favorite genre) and should I read this?

I recommend you to read Angelfall. It is so awesome, it will keep you attached to it through your reading. Romance is not that much in this book, but the life Penryn has to live is just so intense.

Alexandra Definitely read this! Romance is a hidden undertone but this is the first book in a series and, from the ending, you can tell that there's more to come. My favorite thing about the romance here is the obvious chemistry between the leads, but the fact that neither of them notices it at all (or barely at all)...yet...so it doesn't detract from the plot which is fast paced and holds some highly shocking twists. Penryn is an awesome heroine. She's resourceful, and knows how to fight (for a very, very good reason), unlike many of the other dystopian female leads of late who just "know how to defend themsleves" but let the guy do all the work. Not so here.

I wasn't too impressed with the synopsis when I read it either, but I stumbled across a highly praiseful review by a reviewer I trust, and bought the book five minutes later for $2.99 on my ereader. I gave it five stars, and my usual rating for many YA books is between 2 and 3 stars (TMI and TID exempted, because they all got 4-5 stars). I promise you won't be sorry for reading it.

Olivia YESSSSSSSSSSSSS read it its one of my favorite books! just like waht the other 2 said it doesnt have much romance buts lots of adventure and suspence (kinda) and some action

Alicia Batista (Addicted Readers) I did NOT care for it that much! I gave it 3 stars out of 5! When I sat down to read this I was SO hyped and by the end of the book I was thinking did I miss the whole book because it was no where near as good as people claimed. But that's my personal opinion!

Sophie DEFINITELY READ!

I found it was a nice break from romance, and it was incredibly intense and suspenseful with an ongoing tension between the protagonists. I loved it, and cant wait for book #2! :)

Marisa Read it! This book is one of my favorites. It seemed extremely real to me considering it was about a bunch of angels.

Maddie Tiare Well, if you're looking for romance this isn't exactly the place to find it, but its okay because the book has a lot of other strengths that make it great. And just because Penryn and Raffe don't fall in love immediately, doesn't mean that you're not rooting for them the whole time. Its not a romance book, though.

Thea Romance isn't a big topic of the book, there are hints of it between the main characters. I love that it's not like the other romance YA books out there. The characters do feel respect for each other and are intelligent enough to not fall so quickly. It is very realistic because people don't fall in love in glances and few words.

The book is a good read. Clever and very entertaining.

Lunia Yes!

Emilie Mcdonald I'm with the majority of comments here and I enjoyed it as well. It's a book that I got for free one day on my ereader thanks to some emails that I get and just kinda figured, "eh why not? Sounds interesting enough and I'll read it some day when I've got nothing better to read." Well "some day" happened to be just a few weeks ago and I definitely enjoyed the book.

I wasn't sure what I was expecting back when I originally downloaded the book, so I can't say if it delivered or not. But it's a very good YA dystopian novel about angels who aren't always the good guys that our current society leads you to believe they are.

Stephanee This was a REALLY good book, I loved it, I would definitely give it a try!

message 13: by Judy (new) - rated it 4 stars

Judy Goodwin Yes, there is romance, but be aware that's not the main focus of the story. I really enjoyed it--I enjoy fantasy, dystopian, and romance, and this hit all three.

I reviewed it on my blog here: http://judygoodwin.wordpress.com/2012...

Atalia • She’s Feeling Bookish Yes!!! read this for sure. I got this one because of all the buzz about it & did not regret it. Im dying for the second one!!

Tracy It is soooo good!! Definitely recommend this book. :))

Estelle (E) OH YES!!!!!

Melissa The romance is very, very subtle-- almost tentative-- which I appreciated. Definitely give it a read.

Ashley Tropea Well thanks guys! Since every single person who read it and commented here liked it I think I'll give it a try

I hope you enjoy it! :) I liked it a lot, but be forewarned, if you're looking for lots of romance you won't find it. I was very happy that romance didn't take over the book, and there was just a hint, just the right amount to make me anticipate the next book! :D

message 20: by Ariel (last edited Apr 10, 2013 06:40PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ariel Definitely read it! Just hold on and wait for the romance, because it does come! This book made me shiver at the end, because there is this one really sweet/sad romance event that happens, which makes the book end on a cliffhanger. If a book makes me shiver, then I think it's a good book! I'm dying till I get to read the sequel! :)

message 21: by Kat (new) - rated it 4 stars

Kat Absolutely read! It foreshadows a romance that should be really good. But besides that it is a great dystopian novel!

kirstin ✿ I've just finished this one, and I suggest you read it too! Like, right now :D Romance isn't a big thing, though, if you're the type of reader who looks for romance immediately. But there is romance! This is just the first book. I think Susan Ee doesn't want to rush that aspect, because that's the reality. People don't fall in love at first sight.

But still, and all in all, this is one spectacular book. It doesn't disappoint. It's epic!

Christy Wilson Highly, highly recommend this book and I cannot wait for the next one. You should definitely read it because it is damn entertaining, romantic aspect or not.

saania jamal ✧ There is literally, absolutely no reason for anyone to put this book off alright, IT IS FLAWLESS. I'm all for romance-shomance lately and I had the same doubts as you as far as that part was concerned but all of those doubts were crushed the moment I touched this little gem. Boy, is it a good book! Totally worth the read, and even if you feel there's a lack of romance or whatever, the climax will make up for it all. JUST GIVE IT A SHOT! :D

Marie I did not like ANY angel story ever, so I had my doubts when I started the book. But those angels are no 'glimmer-in-the-sun' version as all the others. They destroyed the human race as foretold in the bible, without any warning or explanation. Even Rafe the angel with cut-off wings, which is helping Penryn to find her sister is not really nice or likeable in the beginning.
The world is rough and Penryn makes mistakes.
This book was my favourite book of 2012 - and as I said I did not expected it AT ALL.
Read it!

Ashley IT'S AWESOME! Read it! Pretty pretty please with a cherry on top? It is probably the best angel book ever! Even better than Unearthly. Unearthly was too contemporary for a paranormal book but Angelfall is so much better. A dystopian with angels in it. How cool is that? Are there even any other angel dystopian books out there? I don't think so. Anyway the main character Penryn is so kickass. She takes care of her crippled sister and crazy (literally) mother when the angels take over. She's a strong heroine and the romance is not too big in the story. It builds up over the course of the novel which is good. There's nothing more annoying than insta-love. Anyway read it!

kirstin ✿ Ashley wrote: "IT'S AWESOME! Read it! Pretty pretty please with a cherry on top? It is probably the best angel book ever! Even better than Unearthly. Unearthly was too contemporary for a paranormal book but Angel..."

Agree, agree! Better than any other angel books out there! The best, in fact. The other YA Angel book that can compete with it is Daughter of Smoke and Bone. But that one has the insta-love.

Yeah it had insta-love but technically they knew each other and already fell in love before um....the main character died the first time (sorry forgot her name).

Yes, but what I meant was the insta-love (view spoiler) :) Anyway, it's awesome too. Loved the writing.

Kim Bailey I too just finished & adored this book. The subtle hints of romance are far more enticing and (in my opinion) realistic than other books in the genre. Go read it!

Lunia Yes. Worth the read.

Melinda YES! Best book I have read this year so far, went straight onto my all time faves shelf - I recommend this book to everyone I talk to, lol.

message 33: by Harmony (new) - added it

Harmony Kent Definitely read this!!! I am waiting eagerly for the sequel to come out. One of the best books I have read in a looooooong time. Have signed up for the release notification too - first time I've done this with a book.

Valerie READ IT!!

message 35: by J.C. (new) - rated it 5 stars

J.C. Mells Absolutely read this!

Brenda I highly recommend it..Read it before the movie comes out!!

Lunia Hope to start tonight. Too excited.

Robin (Bridge Four) Warning....Don't start it until you have time to read the entire book. It grabbed me at the very first chapter and did not let go. I stayed awake until 4 to read it then got up for work at 6. But it was worth it.

Tina Ashley wrote: "People keep telling me to read this, but the synposis doesn't make me think it's going to be that great. Is there romance (that's my favorite genre) and should I read this?"

There is a little romantic... emphasizing on the word VERY little. It's more about the idea of fighting & surviving post-apocalypse than about anything else. If you like paranormal ya books then you should read this one. Plus, there is second book on the making and as the ending of this book#1 was promising for a more "romance" on the second novel you could give it a try.
