Will You Read the Sequel to "The Shining?"

I realy want to read Dr. Sleep, I only hope this book feels like the "oldies". The new and modern Stephen King is not the best for me.

I hear a lot of people say that about his newer stuff but when I read them, I see more maturity in his writing and the stories are great but to each their own.

Did you read Full Dark No Stars? What do you think about it?

I think he's written a few connective stories that could "technically" be seque..."

If a sequel to "The Shining" was half as good as 'Keyhole', I'd stand in line to read it!

The book is distinctly different from the Kubrick movie version so it is u..."
Yeah and I don't think any of the modern horror movies could hold a candle to the good version of the Shining...if a sequel was done in film, I doubt it would be that impressive. I think I'm gonna stick with just reading King's sequel. Sticking with the master is always a safe bet! lol

I would love to read the sequel, but like all sequels would it be as good as the first. Also think there should be a sequel to stephen kings IT my favourite book of all time, just to see if all the eggs were really destroyed mmmmmm

The movie was superb, too. I was just thinking this morning about how the Shelly Duvall scene unfolded, when she finally started reading the huge stack of typed pages. Now I'll have to find the movie online somewhere.

i would read it. i loved the shinning and it does leave you hanging a bit...

He's never taken one of his stand alone novels and written a sequel to it. King and Straub always meant to do a trilogy so Black House is a continuation of the same story, The Dark Tower series is a continuation of the same story. The Shining has always been a stand alone novel and the only things it has in common with Dr. Sleep is Danny and the ability to shine. Technically those are all sequels so I guess the real difference is that the Jack Sawyer books and The Dark Tower series were always intended to be extended into more than one book and The Shining wasn't.

I guess it depends on perception. When he put out The Gunslinger, he might have been the only one to know if there were going to be more to follow. I can see your point, however.

Um, yes!

I heard it was an actual sequel in the sense that King was interested in writing about how Danny turned out after going through what he went through.

Yes, I would read a sequel to The Shining. I want so much to believe that that hotel is wiped off the face of the earth. I guess having that much passion about a fictitional situation tells me how much into that crazy world Stephen King drew me. As to which film adaptation I liked, they both had their points. Jack Nicholson's perfermance as a man sinking into madness was great, but the tv version was truer to the book and therefore there was more development of the mother's characer. Rebecca De Mornay was far more easier to be sympathetic to, while Shelly Duvall's character could really have benefitted from her brains being bashed in with a baseball bat.

Why was you angry because of The Dark Tower, it was brilliant!
