I'm having a hard time getting into this. It maybe because i have actually not read the original or it maybe that I think anything zombie related is ignorant. Did anyone else read and love this book?

I recently tried to read this one but just couldn't finish it, worst book I have read in a long time. Maybe it's because I haven't read the original but after trying this I have no interest in reading the original at all.
Actually this was not a very good book. Even if you had read Pride and Prejudice, you would still come to that conclusion. One had nothing to do with the other, except the names of the characters.
I was delighted by the premise, and it was on my "to read" list for a very long time. And then I read it. OMG what a load of crap! Way too much praise! Probably mostly by people who were snickering at Pride and Prejudice and giggled every time Jane Austen mentioned "balls". *rolling eyes*
The worst was when the president of Jane Austen society praised the book! Made me wonder why she is even in Jane Austen society when she so clearly doesn't get Jane Austen at all! Perhaps she thinks they are "just romance novels".
The author didn't have any idea or understanding of Regency Britain, Jane Austen's style or sense of humor, the characters of Elizabeth or mr. Darcy or anyone else in the books. His humor is immature and crude, and the jokes get old very, very quickly, but he just keeps on - I think there were three ball jokes in the book if not more, and every time it was presented with the "wink, wink". *sigh*
So disappointed.
The movie was much better. Perhaps because I was expecting crap, and it wasn't quite as crappy, or because they had managed to make something OK of the crappy book.
